If you like your house music to be a bit more laid then this album is for you. This is certainly a cd that you could get your 40+ year old 'i hate dance music' father to listen too! The Jazz'n'Groove cd (cd1) is extremly soulful and full of beautiful female lyrics throughout. This cd is great for listening to when just relaxing at home and is the typical style of music that you would hear in many 'back rooms' of various nightclubs. The Masters at Work track (no.4 on cd) is the best track on the cd and everytime i hear it i have to smile!
The second cd (Cleptomaniacs) is my personal favourite of the two. There is a very good use of some nice acapella's, the best being on track number 4, where Todd Terry's famous 'Preacher' vocal is used. The tune that it is located on (Hott 22 - Sunshine Daze) is a really good deep/funky tune on it's own but has been made even better with the addition of the acapella. The Kid Creme mix of Shakedown - At Night (track 7) is very nice to hear due to the fact that the original has been overplayed by radio stations and cheesey djs around the country and the John 'Julius' Knight productions that are included just go to give the cd a very happy feel about it.
This is certainly my favourite cd in my collection and it will take a very good compilation to change that!

I'm going to keep this review short and sweet but this compilation is excellent.
Jazz and Groove and Cleptomaniacs offer a deep and funky array of goodies for the disco house heads to get their teeth into...and is definatly value for money for the quality you get. Although some of the tracks in the selection can also be found on Hed Kandi's 'Disco Heaven' compilation, the number of straight from 12" tracks compensate for this... Keep your ears open for Kid Cremes astonishing remix of Shakedowns 'At Night' and Deepstar's 'Sugar' (straight off Soulfuric Deep)..awesome...
If your into the late Radio 1 DJ Danny Rampling, Lottie, Mark Doyle or Inland Knights, these mixes are the ones for you.

this CD is simply the best soulful house album i have ever heard, its better than Defected's 'Garage City' and 'Soul Heaven' albums and that is high praise indeed.
Jazz-n-groove's superb mix of funky vocal house builds from UBP's mix of Keith Thompson's 'Rhythm Of Life' and i feel reaches its peak with Jay J's fantastically weighty remix of Kathy Browns 'You Give Good Love' before ending with a couple of slightly weaker latin inspired tracks from Salome De Bahia and Afro Medusa, but these do not detract from the overall excellence of this CD.
The Cleptomaniacs CD has a slightly harder, less uplifting edge to it than Jazz-N-Grooves but is still a great mix of funky house tunes to get you going. The highlights of this mix are DJ Chus's 'That Feeling' and Kid Creme's (astonishing, as DJ Kojak puts it!) remix of Shakedowns 'At Night', which is a thumping track that has and will fill many a club dance floor.
The best thing about this album is that there is no urge to skip tracks while listening to it as there are no bad tracks at all.
You can get into trouble playing music like this!

This cd is fantastic. Its just soulful lyrical funkiness all the way through uninterupted by terrible tribal rubbish you get on most house cds. This cd ends the way it starts. With both India and Julie Mcknight on it it has to be good..... you really need this cd..go get it
