This is a harrowing story written by my parents of their disturbing encounter with the Irish Psychiatric system.It is a story of hope and encouragement to all those who are suffering from emotional turmoil, and will hopefully offer a glimmer of light to many who can only see darkness in their lives.
It is not only for those who are suffering and their loved ones, but should be read by all those who are connected to the complex world of Psychiatry.
It is an honest and revealing story written directly from the heart and will suprise many who would not be so brave to reveal such a personal insight into their lives.

Having read Soul Survivor by Mary and Jim Maddock I cannot recommend it highly enough. Harrowing at times, this deeply courageous and inspiratational account is a must-read. Written from the heart it details the unbelievable journey taken by Mary and also her husband and it presents a shocking case. The strength shown by Mary in her recovery is incredible. A thought provoking and emotional book.

Mary and Jim give a very good insight into traditional psychiatry, and its inability to support someome who is having some emotional difficulties. Their love and support for each other is admirable and is in my opinion the core reason for recovery. I heartly recommend this book and wish them the best in their lives.
