Book Description

The mage Darrion must find the child born during the total solar eclipse. The child who is his world’s only hope. The child who is a Sorcerer. The child he tried to kill as a baby 16 years ago!

Lloyd Brook is an adolescent boy. He loves his dog Lady. He loves his mum. And he loves from a distance the school girl femme fatale Wendy Walsh.

Doctor Amy Brook found Lloyd, her adopted son, as a baby in an ancient circle of stones. Her life, her son's and that of the strange magician, who collapsed on her doorstep one day, all become entwined in terrible events unfolding in a Kingdom called Kalana.

Soul of the Sorcerer is a fantasy series with a twinge of romance that will hopefully make the reader feel happy, sad and on occasion uncomfortable!

The series is written to appeal to a wide range of ages; however, as Lloyd's character ages, his experiences become increasingly mature and the reader should be warned that there is the occasional sexual scene and use, on rare occasions, of expletives. Therefore the author would like to recommend that the series is not for children under the age of 14, or for those of a very sensitive nature!

    More About the Author

I have worked in the media industry for over 30 years and have written and directed many videos for corporate clients.

I have always loved reading fantasy, with my favourite author and series being David Eddings' Book of the Belgariad. I also loved playing Dungeons and Dragons at school in the 80's - it's the only thing that helped me survive it! (school that is, not the 80's!)

I actually completed my first book in 1999, but just when I was contemplating approaching publishers I became aware of the phenomenon of Harry Potter; as J.K Rowling was launching book 2 in her series. My heart sank a little as the similarities between Soul of the Sorcerer and HP are that both main characters are bought to our world as babies and both return to their world and end up at wizardry schools! DAMN!

Over the years I revisited my work and even shared it with friends, friends of friends and family and it was their feedback which made me realise that yes there are similarities but SOS is a very different type of story...and fundamentally one they enjoyed enough to pester me to publish on Kindle.

If you get a chance to read it, I hope you enjoy it as much I loved writing it. I am also enjoying working on the next book of the series (in my spare time) between being a dad, working full time and being Chair of Governors at a Local Secondary School.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! 28 May 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
Not normally my kind of thing but purchased on a punt and really enjoyed it. The characters were engaging and had real depth. The story was easy enough to follow but complex enough to be enjoyable (tried other types of this genre and became to confused with locations, beast etc.).

Not read book two yet but looking forward to it.

Plus, currently a bargain (I paid just over £1!!).

    Well recomended

Forget Harry Potter and thinking this is the same sort of story it definately isn't.

I read this for the first time about 8 years ago and thought it was brilliant then, on a second read its still brilliant.

Would certainly recommend this book to anyone that likes fantasy.

Just about to start the second part

A really good fantasy series is cause for a celebration for me on the rare occasion that I come across one and Soul of the Sorcerer is reason to get the corks popping. Most books like this feel very familiar and the name of one of the classics from the genre are on the tip of your tongue as you feel the author is trying to replicate rather than create their own magical world. T R Brown has managed to achieve the very difficult and make his own vision feel authentic and stand out in a very crowded market place. This is just the first part of the series and already I’m hooked and salivating at the prospect of what else is to come. Can’t wait ☺

3.0 out of 5 stars annoying amount of exclamation marks!!! 14 Sept. 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story has merit, and could be enjoyable, if it wasn't for an unreasonable amount of exclamation marks! Every paragraph! Sometimes twice!!
I liked the characters, but did get annoyed with the teenage angst and the building of romance between every couple of the opposite sex. There is not a single developed character bound to end up, well single (insert exclamation mark).
I'm in two minds as to whether I'll follow on with the trilogy. I'll be paying close attention to the reviews before purchasing.
