From the Back Cover

"Through the shamanic framework of 'soul loss' and 'soul retrieval,' Sandra Ingerman offers us a window through which some of our myriad non-physical interactions can be recognised, understood and honoured."
GARY ZUKAV, author of 'The Dancing Wu Li Masters' and 'The Seat of the Soul'

A VISIONARY WORK THAT REVIVES THE ANCIENT SHAMANIC TRADITION OF SOUL RETRIEVAL FOR HEALING EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL ILLNESS.

With warmth and compassion, Sandra Ingerman describes the dramatic results of combining soul retrieval with contemporary psychological concepts. Drawing on case studies from her ten years of teaching and practice, Ingerman illustrates what psyche or soul damage is and why it is a common yet little understood cause of psychological dysfunction. Her pioneering work has enabled thousands of individuals to overcome traumatic dissociation, depression, addictions, memory repression, and other problems through the age-old shamanic technique of soul retrieval.

"Wise and wonderful… [a] deeply moving and life affirming work."
RALPH METZNER, author of 'Opening to Inner Light'

"Fascinating and illuminating. An excellent introduction to the mysterious power of shamanic healing by an authentic, experienced practitioner."
FRANCES VAUGHAN, Ph.D., psychologist and author of 'The Inward Arc' and 'Awakening Intuition'

"An uplifting and vitally important work, this book stands to revolutionise what we mean by 'therapy.'"
LARRY DOSSEY, M.D., author of 'Recovering the Soul'

"A brilliant book ! Ingerman speaks from the heart and [from] her experience, sharing her personal medicine with us all. Those who are seeking to reclaim the beauty of their personal wholeness by moving through their woundedness and into their humanity will find this book a must."
JAMIE SAMS, author of 'Sacred Path Cards'

"I admire Ingerman's ability to modernise this ancient path of shaman practice, and I praise her emphasis on using shamanism with compassion and respect for all beings."
SERGE KAHILI KING, author of 'Urban Shaman'

Sandra Ingerman is the leading practitioner of soul retrieval and conducts workshops around the world. She has a master's degree in counselling psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and is a member of the International Faculty of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, directed by Michael Harner.

5.0 out of 5 stars a book that helps us reclaim who we are, 6 Jun 2002
This review is from: Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self: Mending the Fragmented Self Through Shamanic Practice (Paperback)
Sandra Ingerman takes the subject of Soul Retrieval and opens it up to us in a fantastically lucid way.
She shows us how simply we can tap into the world of spirit and journey to recover those lost parts of ourselves that we so desperately need to be complete in who we are. She shows us how we can reclaim those lost parts through the ritual of soul retrieval, helping bring us to a place of understanding both within ourselves and the world we live in.
Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self Through Shamanic Practise is a beautifully written book. It illustrates and helps us remember the forgotten knowledge of a once widely practised healing technique.
It is a must read for anyone looking to further their knowledge of who they truly are.

2.0 out of 5 stars Useful but limited, 31 Aug 2009

This book is a interesting introduction to the topic of soul retrieval but it does not deliver anything beyond some general exercises and the author's personal experiences. I found "Mending the Past and Healing the Future with Soul Retrieval " by Alberto Villodo to be a much better book as it provides a clear conceptual structure and practical soul retrieval exercises from someone who has met traditional shaman.

4.0 out of 5 stars A truly enlightening read..., 12 Oct 2009
Although this book is basic, it is a great introduction into how Soul Retrieval can assist people in the process of their healing journey, whether emotional or physical. Simply explained so as not to confound the novice, Sandra gives many examples of her own work experiences over many years. There are also some exercises given after every chapter to assist you in discovering your own truth and that require you to take a step closer to the World of Spirit. Sandra is a very warm and compassionate person, who combines her Shamanic work with contemporary counseling techniques.
This is a wonderful first book on the subject of Shamanism and, particularly, Soul Retrieval.
