Lovely voice, lovely person 25 Jan 2007

This is a terrific album. Katie's voice is absolutely beautiful, dare I say almost perfect. The songs are nicely orchestrated, with only "O Mio Babbino Caro" familiar to me.

I met Ms. Harman when she was Miss America, and she proved she is as sincere and nice as she appears in public.

If you're a fan of Sarah Brightman, or any classically trained soprano voice, I'm sure you'll love this cd.
lovely voice but a flawed album 17 Feb 2007

Katie Harman has a lovely voice but this freshman album is hampered by poor song selection. I adored her "Oh Mio Bambino Caro" but it's only one song and nothing else on the album is memorable, whoever picked these songs was not thinking about what would be fun to hear or what was best for Katie's voice.

The Pieta Signor was particularly annoying. I was expecting the classic version and got a new age mess. Ick! The song with the kids was nice but the songs before and after it were bland. I honestly would not reccomend this album to someone who wants to just listen to the vocals and music. It's alright as background dinner music but that's about it.

Katie Harman is too good a singer for this first effort. Hopefully her next album will be better put together.
Beautiful young lady, lovely voice 13 Feb 2007

As a long-time fan of the Miss America Pageant (and any pageant, for that matter), I vividly remember seeing Ms. Harman win the 2002 crown. What I most remember was her amazing talent presentation. It is no secret that the majority of Miss America contestants are minimally talented at best. Not so with Ms. Harman. When she performed, I was mesmerized. Not only did she sing beautifully, but she ACTED the part (she sang the aria "O Mio Babbino Caro" from the opera GIANNI SCHICCHI; the best way to describe the aria is a temper tantrum thrown by a petulant child). The second thing I remember about her was that resembled the beautiful actress Jenna Elfman. I was sure she was going to win, and lo and behold, she did.

With SOUL OF LOVE, her freshman recording, Ms. Harman has only improved as she's grown a little older. It comes as no surprise that she is the most riveting with the new rendition of "O Mio Babbino Caro." The orchestrations are beautiful, and for the most part serve to frame her beautiful voice. My only complaint is that she seems to be holding back a little bit, perhaps paying too much attention to the technical aspect of classical singing instead of supporting it with the incredible emotional depth we saw at the Miss America pageant.

I look forward to future recordings by this young bright new star.
