Product Description

Malcolm D. Lee directs this musical comedy drama. Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac star as Louis Hinds and Floyd Henderson, two former soul backing singers who reluctantly agree to come out of retirement to perform at a tribute concert for their recently deceased lead singer Marcus Hooks (John Legend). The two men, who have not spoken to each other since Floyd had a relationship with Louis's wife two decades earlier, embark on a road trip from L.A. to New York during which they must renew their friendship, rediscover their soul voices and reconcile with the past in time for their big performance at the Apollo.

About the Director

muel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac are estranged soul singers Louis and Floyd in this hilarious road-trip comedy. Out of shape and out of practice, the duo sets off on a cross country journey to perform a tribute concert at the legendary Apollo Theatre settling their 25-year-old grudge along the way. Also starring Sharon Leal (Dreamgirls), Isaac Hayes (Hustle & Flow) and Grammy® Award-winning singer John Legend.

A film not widely known about...if you get a copy watch it and enjoy. It is absolutely side splittingly brilliant. Berni Mac RIP steals the show for me...he is quite simply amazing and it's so sad he alongside Isaac Hayes are no longer with us. There are scenes is this film that I could watch a million times and still laugh at. It's a good idea to have subtitles on so you can catch every word which has relevance to the film. Superb!!

Brilliant and funny, sad when you think that TWO black icons starred in this and it became their last movie. Perfect perfomances by Mr Jackson, Mr Mac & Mr Hayes. Well worth buying.

What happens when Bernie Mac (RIP) and Samuel L Jackson decide to reunite their band, The Real Deal, to sing at a concert in memory of the recently deceased third member of the band? Absolute craziness and hilarity. The film spans the 4 days up to the night of the concert.

I watched this film with my husband and we both enjoyed it immensely. Definitely laugh out loud funny.

What made me feel sad was to see Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes together on screen. Two of the greatest black performers that ever lived - Mr Mac in comedy and Mr Hayes in music. Much missed!

I thought Bernie & Samuel were funny together in this and as storylines go, nothing was left hanging all ties were tied.
The soundtrack was nostalgic and the credits at the end confirmed that Bernie and Samual had actually sang most of
the songs. I thought the tribute of the film to both Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes who died in the same year was good.
I was surprised at the price I paid for it, which was virtually nothing and so I have nothing at all to complain about and
was very happy with my purchase

Found this to be quite funny in parts with some quite vulgar language. My main issue is it's missing the lossless dts-HD or Dolby TrueHD audio that most other countries got on their bluray. The picture quality is good tho. I enjoyed seeing Samuel L.Jackson singing and playing a comedy and the late Bernie Mac is very funny too. 6 out of 10 overall for the bluray- would have bumped it up to 7 out of 10 if it had the correct audio. Not for the young uns tho due to dirty jokes.

Saw this on TV just before Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed both the story line and the actors performances. I would hazard a guess that this film is loosely based on Sam & Dave who never spoke to each other off stage? If you like a bit of comedy, lot of swearing (which fits within the characters) and some great Soul music, then this film, especially at the price, will give you a good evening entertainment.

Very funny comedy from start to finish, Jackson and Mac are a fantastic duo and work really well together with some cool sharp witty dialogue and great performances!! Great little story too, if you love a good heart warming comedy then this is a must see.

Soul men - A happy feel good factor film thoroughly enjoyable and hillarious in parts especially the bedroom bits and the music! Reminiscent of Blues Bro's.
