Review

"I loved this book. I was immediately drawn into the world of the Immortals that AD Starrling has created. You should definitely go pick it up and give it a read. If you like this genre at all, or even if you don't, this is a new author that you will want to give a try." Jessica Loves Books

"Soul Meaning is a supernatural thriller that is jammed packed full of non-stop action. From the very first page, it draws the reader in. It immediately grabbed my attention and it continued till the very end. I was really surprised by how amazing Soul Meaning was." Lunar Haven RD --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

The immortal Crovir and Bastian races have been at each other's throats for centuries. So, when Lucas Soul (a half-breed) finds that half the immortals want him dead, Lucas and his best bud Reid bomb their way through Europe trying to figure out why.

Soul Meaning is very much a plot-driven book. I usually have a preference for books that are slow paced, centred on world building and character development, but I actually quite enjoyed the change of scenery Soul Meaning provided.

Although this book is good, it didn't blow me away. There were far too many action scenes in the first half of the novel for my liking and not enough exposure of the plot. Thankfully the focus shifted in the second half of the book. The two main characters (Lucas and Reid) were solid creations, but the secondary characters didn't particularly shine, mainly due to the first person narration. I also couldn't see how the Crovir and the Bastians were different races - they seemed pretty much exactly the same to me. Perhaps this will be clarified in later books (or maybe I missed something?).

However, I will continue reading the series. I liked the premise and there were some cool ideas thrown in.

Fantastic book, hard to believe this is the authors first. Gripping from start to finish, it's a fantasy novel with very realistic characters and a fast paced plot that will keep you turning the pages long after you had planned to.
Looking forward to the follow up!!!

Without risking any spoilers, if you like movies like Highlander and Underworld you'll enjoy this. It's a fast paced, well observed novel with some interesting characters and enough twists to keep even the most sceptical reader interested. The novel opens with a bang as Lucas Soul dies, and is reborn in the first few lines - and that's pretty much the pace you get until the final page. The descriptions are sumptuously in depth as the story carries you across the world across some of my favourite cities and the fight scenes are just begging to be put on camera. A great start to the series, I'm looking forward to the sequel already!
