Product Description

Everyone believes Tommy's best friend died in a terrible accident. Only Tommy knows that it wasn't an accident at all. He made a drunken mistake he can never take back. And now he's haunted, literally. It sounds nuts, and sometimes Tommy is not sure if he is nuts. It doesn't seem to matter too much until he meets Suki.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable tale 30 Sep 2011
By Helen Hancox TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Free ebooks on the Kindle can be very hit or miss. I've read some good stories, I've read some absolute stinkers, and when you start a book you never know what you're going to get.

`Soul Mate' was decidedly a hit. A fascinating premise (that a young man finds his body taken over by ghosts who have final things they need to do before, presumably, going to their eternal `rest') and how it affects his life, relationships and state of mind.

Our hero Tommy takes a little while to settle into; I didn't know if I liked him particularly, and he seemed like a real loser, but as his situation is unfolded to the reader you realise why. The love interest, Suki, was perhaps rather too good to be true - are people really this accepting and helpful in real life? - but her housemate was a good foil and I enjoyed their interactions.

The story was perhaps a little slow to get going but I was soon gripped and I loved the way the author described Tommy's experiences as the ghosts take him places and control his body. Towards the end it got really exciting and it was almost edge-of-your-seat stuff.

The only aspect to this story that I didn't really like was the rather abrupt ending, particularly as the central part of the story wasn't resolved. Perhaps this was so that we can have subsequent adventures featuring Tommy. If so, I'll be glad to read them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping 27 Sep 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'm having to review my personal policy on first person, first-tense reads - they used to irritate the daylights out of me.

When I realised this was in that format I thought I'd be switching to another book after a chapter. Instead, this story kept me up late and nearly made me miss my stop twice.

I've seen the lower rated reviews on this book; but have to say it's one of the best I've read in a while; for me the characters were rich, detailed and pretty entertaining.

Tommy is a man haunted by guilt, in more ways than one. Dangerous as his situation is , it's about to get a whole lot worse.

I can't give too much away without going into spoilers, but can say this is a very intense, character-driven read, and a great twist on the ghost tale. Some heavy language and a bunch of scenes that will have your heart in your mouth wondering what will happen next.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars surprisingly enjoyable. 16 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure when I downloaded this story after reading some very negative reports. However after the first few pages when I was mildly confused all was explained) then I was hooked. How could T get out of this situation? It began to make sense and by then I cared about Tommy and his predicament. It is obvious that there is going to be a sequel or sequels - bring them on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soul Mate - Free!! 18 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I downloaded this free book to my Kindle a few weeks ago - along with various others. I finally got round to reading it after being slightly put off by some of the reviews I read about it. And I have to say it's probably the best book I've had the pleasure of reading this year. I was completely hooked from the start. Books, like everything else are a matter of personal preference. But I loved the slightly supernatural element alongside the developing love interest. I connected with Tommy as the underdog trying to transform his life. Great story/characters etc.. and can't wait to read more from Mr Crawford.
Do yourself a favour - download and enjoy. At 0p you've got nothing to lose!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab 21 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Absolutely brilliant book. Wondering if there are follow up books for Tommy and his adventures. Couldn't help thinking this would make a fab series for the tele. Really really enjoyed this book and will look out for books from Richard Crawford in the future. Gripped me from the beginning and it just kept getting better.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVELY SPOOKY STORY 8 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have to say that this story was well written & thought out.

A strange tale of a young man getting taken over by ghosts who are restless on the other side.

As I read more of this book you did feel sorry for him as he could never move on with his life and to be honest he did end up in some right states after the ghosts had finished with his body.

It was so good for him to find someone who believed in him and that he was a good person.

Eventually you find out what had originally happened and made things happen as they did.

A great story and would recommend this to others

A GREAT FREEBIE

4.0 out of 5 stars Something Different 3 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you are looking for something a little different from the standard romance/crime/supernatural book but enjoy those genres then this is a good easy read as it has elements of them all. It is a little confusing in that I didn't really like the main character but then again I don't think we are supposed to and in that the writer did a good job of creating an interest and an empathy for someone who has really thrown their life away. I would definitely read a sequel.

I did plod through to the end, but I am not really sure why especially as it was free! Tommy is controlled by ghosts on a regular basis and is a thoroughly unlikeable character there is is also a holier than thou love interest. If you like ghost stories give it a go otherwise there are better free books available.

Ok but can get a bit boring on time. The storyline was a bit long winded. Not enough about the romance side of the story.
