Couldn't finish it,

I loved Paul Johnstons Death List, but was very disappointed in this, i was really looking forward to it. The writing is very poor and i cringed in a fair amount of places, All the rugby references and names like slash, pscho etc etc meant that i just couldnt read it any more. i may try and finish it one day, but there are many more books with a lot more promise than this.

Honestly, even if you've enjoyed the first book as much as I did. I really recommend you DON'T bother with this. I thoroughly enjoyed The Death List which was a real page turner; I was up to gone 1am reading it. I so looked forward to this follow up. What a huge disappointment. I persevered because I loved the Death list and wanted to know what happened. Well it was beyond farfetched and I wish I hadn't wasted my time with it. I really find it difficult to believe that Matt would still carry on without the assistance of the police. It has been left possible for another follow up - if there is I shall not be reading it.

Neither scary or interesting,

Despite the glowing reviews on the book cover (which is why I bought it) I found this to be a pretty dire piece of writing, with paper thin characters and about as much tension as a trip to Tesco. The big set-piece killings, which should really set the tone for the rest of the action, go for absolutely nothing. There's a complete lack of atmosphere or mood. The excess of matey chumminess (plus all the rugby stuff) made me wonder if the author had written it so that his pals could spot themselves in it. It didn't work as a serial killer, thriller or police procedural for me.
