Now, if you're in any way a collector soul music my bet is you'll have got every track on this compilation a long time ago so my advice would be to move right along to some more esoteric black music searches - e.g mining a bit of rare Northern Soul is my strong suggestion.
However, if you're unaware of what great soul music was produced in the 1970s by mainly American artists, then stop right here and press ol' Amazon's favourite button 'buy now'.
And boy, are you in for a treat. This set is packed, wall-to-wall with brilliant, mainstream (but none the worse for that) soul tunes - too many to mention.
By the way, the best place to play this album is in the car - really loud. I'm staring at the cliff-face of middle age now, so sadly I'm far too old to have it on 'windows down' but in my own little world I'm not really driving my mid-range VW Passat, wearing a dull old Marks & Sparks suit on the same old boring journey to work. Nah. I'm down on the dance floor shakin' my thing!
