as collections go this doesn't do what it says on the package. this isn't a selection of baggy hits and has even less to do with madchester. i for one do not remember many people throwing shapes at the hacienda to the mad sounds of that petrol emotion or world party, but perhaps i went on the wrong night.
ministry of sound really need to reassess their target market here and not just reissue a random selection of student favourites from 1987 - 1995 under the rather blaze madchester moniker. their aim is clearly trying to make some money out of some fairly average hits (true madchester hits such as the charlatans and inspirals aside), rather than actually provide people who may not have been lucky enough to have be there at the time and have seen 24 hour party people with a comprehensive selection of classics from the somewhat briefer period than this collection covers.

This is a very poor compilation of so-called 'Madchester baggy music'. Many of the bands featured on the album have probably never been to manchester, never mind hailed from there! And I cannot believe that not one single stone roses song features on this album? During my days of the 'Madchester' scene, I cannot remember listening or dancing the night away to loads of these songs. Ah well...I suppose it's extra money for Ministry of Sound who seem to do very well out of these poor compilations that keep appearing over the place.

i dont know why other people haven't given this a blastin review this album is great, alright its not quite true all the bands are from manchester (moby) and the only reason you'd have to not like it is if you dont like that type of music, in which case, why did you buy it? its a class album with its fair share of wicked songs, theres one or two duff ones but there always is on a compilation cd.

I never knew Moby was from Manchester...
Well i bought this album expecting it to be the best of the best. Instead it is a mixture of dance tracks with a few mediocre real Madchester tracks thrown in. Read more
