Product Description

Product Description

This title presents four more compilations from the award-winning BBC Radio 4 series specially compiled by producer Jon Naismith. "Risky, rude, brilliantly written and superbly performed". (The Judges, Sony Radio Academy Awards). This twelfth collection of the antidote to panel games finds the late Humphrey Lyttelton giving regular panellists Tim Brooke-Taylor, Barry Cryer and Graeme Garden silly things to do - along with special guests Jeremy Hardy, Sandi Toksvig, Tony Hawks and Linda Smith. Highlights of this title include "Play Your Chords Right", "New Definitions", "Naturists' Song Book", "Inadvisable Openings", "Sound Charades", "One Song to the Tune of Another", "84 Chicken Cross Road", "Uxbridge English Dictionary", "Swanee Kazoo" and the incredibly popular "Mornington Crescent". So get ready to laugh out loud as Humph and the gang indulge in more wonderful wordplay, accompanied by Colin Sell on the piano and the lovely Samantha, who likes to keep each team abreast (with the scores). This is the last "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" compilation volume to feature Humphrey Lyttelton as host.

5.0 out of 5 stars Humph's fitting epitaph?, 7 Nov 2010

Assuming the Beeb don't release any more of the great man's episode of ISIHAC this collection would be a great way for Chairman Humph to sign out. He is at his peerless best, whether doing his introductory town/city monologues, introducing "...Colin Sell at the piano", describing Lionel Blair's various misadventures or how Samantha's latest gentleman friend is getting on with the delightful scorer. Of course this isn't a one man show and the teams are at their mischievous best with Jeremy Hardy, Sandi Toksvig, Tony Hawkes and the late Linda Smith as guests this time round.

For me the great thing about ISIHAC is the obvious enjoyment of all the participants and the generosity the regulars show towards the guests as there is none of the apparent one-upmanship you see on TV on the likes of Mock the week.

I can't imagine a more cheerful way to spend two hours than to listen to this but I would hazard against listening in public as I got some awfully funny looks when I burst out laughing on the train, something that happens rather frequently when listening to these programmes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Humph!, 4 Nov 2010
This review is from: I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue 12 (BBC Audio) (Audio CD)
I am so glad the BBC still have a backlog of broadcasts with Humphrey Littleton in the chair, the new series with Jack Dee is good don't get me wrong, but from the start "you composer is Colin Sell and your Chairman is Humphrey Littleton..." just gets you in the mood for mirth. Hump always had the knack of delivering the lines seemingly blissfully unaware of the double entendres, though sometimes they were single entendres if there are such things. Between new series there is nothing better than putting one of these CD's in and having a good old chuckle. Keep them coming Auntie Beeb!
