I would not purchase this item, even for such a small amount of money.
You can not read one page without having to interpret many occasions of 2 or 3 words that have been joined together.
This is definitely faulty, but the classic itself is wonderful. Buy a better copy and enjoy.

Lovely Story - if a bit angst-ridden 20 Dec. 2014
By alexander - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This seems to me to be yet another one of those books, ahead of its time, but very much in its time. What? Well, the florid language is very 18th century; the format (a fictional editor publishing the “found letters” of young Werther occasionally interrupting ) – very modern, a plot device that can be found right up to the present day. Goethe paints a picture, a very pretty rococo picture dripping with sentimentality and an early romanticism that smothers both his characters and the landscape which, even after this sugary treatment, comes alive under his almost magical language. *However-Story-Content* in the 21st century we would call Werther at minimal a stalker ... and he technically is no less in the eyes of those around him ... bugger, I can't say any more without spoilers - If you can, read it in German it's better by default, if not this translation is one of the few that captures the sheer beauty of Goethe's early works. Be prepared for angst ...

I really enjoyed the charming, true story but should have paid more for the edited version. I recommend the edited version.

Minimal Spoiler:
Nothing more painful than having the one you love be with someone else. So what do you do? Kill the one you love? Their partner? Or yourself?

An excruciatingly beautiful tale of star crossed love, unfolded in letters. 25 Nov. 2012

I do understand that there are different translations. I haven't read others. This one is perfectly expressed, as far as I am concerned. I have read several translations of Madam Bovary, and I may eventually read other translations of this.
