Pam King can't understand why her gran, Ivy, has forbidden her to see Robbie Bennetti. Robbie's a lovely lad, much less dangerous than Lu Cappa, who's always giving her the eye when he's out in his ice-cream van. Pam has to ask her best friend Jill to cover for her while she's out with Robbie.

Poor Pam. She falls in love with a guy, and is unfortunately seperated from him, and doesn't get the chance to say why. She doesn't hear from him again for year, by which time she's married.
The guy is not the theme of the story, Pam's marriage is and the hardships they go through. With people to help them things go well though, for a time, then they go bleak again, and Lu's family doesn't help matters.
Filled with twists of fate its romantic garbage that's fun to read.
