6 Mar 2007 Lois Meade Mysteries
A spate of equestrian thefts has hit Long Farnden and the surrounding countryside, as proprietor of New Brooms cleaning agency Lois Meade, and her loyal staff, are in the perfect position to listen out for any incriminating rumours. Once again, Lois proves herself invaluable to Chief Inspector Hunter Cowgill, but things take a more dangerous turn when Lois finds herself a prime target...The horsey trail leads Lois to the local point to point horse races where it becomes clear that the world of horse racing holds more secrets - and sorrow - than you'd ever imagine...

4.0 out of 5 stars Seventh, but not last 1 Aug 2008
By S. R. Schnur - Published on Amazon.com

I love the Lois Meade Mysteries. The continuing characters are people you know, getting along the best they can with strengths and weaknesses, but mostly likeable. Running a cleaning service is a good way to find things out, and Lois Meade cooperates with Chief Inspector Cowgill to help him solve crimes. He has a crush on her, but these good people never let it go farther than that. Now, Lois's husband, Derek, has won enough in the lottery that they have some security, but they aren't rich. They decided to invest in a rental property.

What this means to us, is that possibly Lois will have other households to investigate, since she can't expand her cleaning business, New Brooms, forever. A clue at the end of this book says the next Lois Meade Mystery will be called "Warning at One." Hooray!

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but not one of her best 12 Aug 2011

I thought the book was just okay. I do like the Ivy Beasley series better, as the stories seem more interesting to me, revolving around an assisted living facility, and seniors who are still sharp-minded and active.

Loved this series and the aging and progression of the characters. I am so sorrowful that there are only seven days in the week.
