This is an attractive book for the young learner of Spanish. Each double page has a small story about Sophie's visit to Spain, with bold bright drawings and several Spanish phrases either attached to a detailed drawing or in the context of an English sentence. For example: "The following morning Pablo asks Sophie if she would like to go to the beach: 'Quieres ir a la playa?' 'Si, claro!' replies Sophie with delight. She loves the beach!" This gives tone and flavour of the phrases and many similar everyday experiences are covered such as buying an ice-cream and attending a fiesta. There is a phrase book at the back in case the child hasn't guessed the meaning from the context. Although intended for children, I found I learned quite a lot as the overall approach is not patronising. Ideal for a car journey through Spain or on the flight. The disc is also amusing and educational (described by the other reviewer) and provides a good base to enjoy at home before a holiday. Altogether good fun and instructive.

I purchased this book for my 4 year old, who does Spanish at nursery. The story, written in English with Spanish vocab woven in, is about Sophie visiting her cousin Pablo in Spain. Each page features a different event such as visiting the beach, airport, house, etc. There are also labels on items and a fold out tab of vocab on each page. The computer disk is great, with each scene from the book recreated, but so that if you wave the mouse the spanish word for them is said and the characters Sophie and Pablo say a few sentences in Spanish.
The book and disk are really engaging for children, and the interactive nature is great. I would reccommend it to all young children learning a language.

Unique Book with CD

The story line is basic about a little girl traveling to her cousin's house. The book gives a good visual of spanish words. The CD is the same but it gives you the option of reading the story on the computer. For the price it is excellent. I wish there were other products like this with even more interactive features as well as advanced spanish levels.
