An absolutely superb album.,

A wildly eclectic meander through funk, soul, doo wop, r ‘n’ b, blues, – all with a unique individual twist. Marvel at the playing and Jones’ marvellous versatile soulful vox. First listen you wonder quite what it is you’re hearing. Word of warning though to more consevative listeners. This is very definitely not a Britpop album, which given Jones background you might be lead to believe. File somewhere between Sly Stone and Charlie Mingus and nowhere near Paul Weller A complete joy from start to finish.

THIS MAN IS A GREAT TALENT: Former frontman of The Stairs Edgar Jones should by all rights be a huge "star" in 2005 - but instead the media chooses to highlight [and therefore promote] musicians who are notorious for drug taking and hanging out with so-called celebrities, appearing in Heat magazine and the tabloids etc etc. "Soothing Music For Stray Cats" is a timeless album of blues, swing and catchy retro tunes all sung in an unbelievably soulful voice by one of Liverpool's finest musicians. With more PR and bigger record company behind him, I am positive that Edgar Jones would be a massive popular success. He certainly deserves to be. And if you get a chance to see him live I strongly urge you to do so - you won't believe your eyes and ears. In a word, superb! File under Essential Listening.

This record combines elements of soul, rock and roll, blues, jazz and even doo wop. These are not genres that I would normally listen to, however upon receving a copy of this CD I gave it a listen and was immediately impressed. This record is great fun to listen to, warm and uplifting.
