World's best battery performance in a premium smartphone

Did you know your current phone is draining battery right now? Even though you're not using it, all those apps may still be running in the background. Battery STAMINA Mode recognises when you're not using your display and automatically turns off the functions you don't need, while keeping the notifications you want - conserving every precious bit of power from that mega 2300 mAH battery. As soon as you wake up your screen, everything is up and running again.

Broadcast every precious moment as it happens live via Facebook and get your friends’ responses right on the screen to keep the conversation going in real-time. To get the perfect action shot, Timeshift Burst lets you capture 31 frames within just 2 seconds - starting even before you press the shutter. Scroll back and forth to select the perfect image, or feel free to keep them all. You can add fun animations to your photos and videos with AR effect mode, retouch portraits or download hundreds more by clicking ‘+Apps’ in your camera viewfinder.

Transfer makes the move seamless and painless

Moving over from a different smartphone? There's no reason why you can't bring all your stuff with you. Xperia Transfer moves your contacts, messages, music, photos, videos and more from iOS and Android in one seamless and worry-free transition, even without a computer.

I really love this phone. I have had it now for just over a week to replace an old, slow iPhone and its ten times better! Really quick, and I love the feel of it as its sleek, and not heavy. Some people have complained about the camera quality, but personally I think it's pretty good. There are also really good camera functions as well, and the video works fine. The sound quality with earphones in is amazing, and unlike Apple devices, there is the capacity for extra memory in which you can slot a micro sd card in. In my opinion, unless you want an uber professional camera, there is no need to spend the extra money on the Z range because this does everything amazingly well!

This is an excellent phone for the price
Design is beautiful and has a nice solid feel in the hand well done Sony
The camera is decent and has some cool extra modes like burst shot and Ar effect, I get decent pics out of this phone
The prossessor has runs nice and smoothy very rarely does the phone freeze or lag Sony ui is very android friendly and smooth good job.
Call quality is great no problems here,
The screen is excellent I wasn't expecting much and I had previously owned a HTC one with a full 1080p and to be honest the step down in screen resolution hasn't bothered me so it must be a decent screen!
Typing is fast and accurate the Sony keyboard is so much better than my HTC one which I was always mis typing on.
And last but not least and a huge factor for me ditching my HTC one is the battery life, this thing will easily last a day, I keep the stamina mode on and it will go 2 day with moderate use no problems, it also charges up pretty swiftly too so massively impressed with the battery on this device.
All in all this is a much better all around phone than the HTC one the one may have had a faster prossessor and 1080p screen but I don't notice these things when using this phone and not having my phone dead at 4pm after moderate use is a god send!
I fully recommend this phone
Well done Sony.

I've spent a week with the Sony M2 and tested it in the real world for calls, games, music and photo/video. Here are my thoughts:

Very good. Viewing angles are excellent and brightness is fine except in direct sunlight. It lacks the contrast of Samsung's AMOLED displays but the colours are more realistic. The resolution of 960 x 540 (qHD) is fine for general use and you won't notice this 'low' resolution unless you're stepping down from a higher resolution phone. In short, don't be put off by the specification - This is a very good quality screen for a phone at this price.

Call quality:
No problems. I've spent around 2 hours on calls to other mobiles and it's prefectly acceptable.

Battery life:
Very good to excellent. With a 4G signal, after a day of mixed use including 30 minutes of calls, 2 hours of internet radio, 30 minutes of gaming on Asphalt 8 and a few texts/facebook updates the battery was down to around 50%. Sony also offers a 'stamina' mode which I have not tested. Your experience may vary but indications are this phone will easily take you into a second day unless you're a very heavy user.

Good mid-range gaming device. Asphalt 8 plays with a perfectly acceptable framerate on medium detail settings. The combination of a quad core 1.2ghz processor and the 960x540 screen resolution provides good balance - Unless you're a gamer looking for premium performance, this device will be fine for the next couple of years.

The speaker emits from the base of the unit - This is unusual, and if you're holding the device sideways while gaming you'll manage to cover the speaker until you get used to moving your hand slightly out of the way.

I upgraded my older Xperia M to the M2 in purple recently and the new M2 is on a totally different level! First off it's much bigger with a 4.8'' screen vs 4'' on my old Xperia M plus It looks & feels like a much more premium device. My friends thought i'd bought a phone from the Z family as it takes much of the design language from the higher end Sony devices at about half the price! This is a very attractive and well put together piece of kit, it feels solid and durable - No flex or creaks anywhere, superb build quality from Sony.

The Sony/Android UI is great and flows smoothly without any lag when swiping screens or opening apps, all very fluid and a pleasure to use. It comes with Jelly Bean but the new KitKat upgrade is due over the Summer for the M2 so looking forward to that.

Really pleased with the camera aswell, it has an 8mp lens with Exmor RS and is a big step up from my old 5mp shooter on the Xperia M. I love taking photos and I'm pleased to say that the M2 has a great camera which is capable of taking some high quality images especially in HDR mode - Very happy with the results, the shots are full of detail and rich in colour and can be further enhanced with the use of camera editing apps.

Call quality is very good with excellent clarity during calls.

Battery life is excellent with 2300mah battery, a full charge will easily see you through a day, 13 hours of moderate use and my battery still shows 70% remaining.

Downsides - Only 5mb internal storage available to user but there is a micro sd card slot so you can easily expand up to 32gb.

I would recommend this phone to anyone, it looks and feels like a device from the Xperia Z range but at half the price! I love it, Sony has redesigned how a mid range phone should be!
