This review is from: Sony XDR-M1 Portable DAB/FM Digital Radio (Electronics)
Contrary to what I expected from reading reviews, the DAB reception in central London and S East England is excellent. I have listened happily on trains and walking. In fact FM signal often worse than DAB - strange. Sound is pretty good with better headphones. Two questions: why is there no case available (it looks like it will show scratches)? Where is Sony Web site for this product. Seems not to have one. I'd recommend this even though there are minor niggles such as battery life referred to elsewhere

I recently bought this radio as I wanted a portable radio that had both DAB and FM. I have three DAB radios at home and also had a portable DAB radio, but unfortunately this didn't meet all my requirements and of course was of no use in areas or on train journeys where there is no digital signal.I have found that reception is fine on trains and buses and when walking, subject to the usual problems with DAB when a building or something gets in the way. I love the design and the fact that the display lets you see a lot of information. The contrast could be better, but there is a backlight. It would also be a useful addition to get an accurate time-setting from the digital output rather than having to set the time as with an analogue radio. The two AA batteries used is a plus and of course rechargeables save a lot of money. All in all I am very pleased with the unit and would recommend it.

I was quite surprised by many of the negative reviews for this product and they almost put me off buying it. I'm glad they didn't as this is a fantastic little radio. As you would expect of Sony, the design is very sleek. As for reception, it is crystal clear. I can pick up a whole range of stations, all consistently clear wherever I am. So far (touch wood) I have no complaints, am really enjoying this radio and would highly recommend it.One tip - when first scanning for channels, extend the aerial/headphones as far they will stretch or else you might find the reception is not very good.
