I bought this for my elderly mother who is partially sighted and who loves her audio books. She has a huge collection of these, on cd as well as tape, but she prefers the tapes as they are easier to rewind and find the place where you fell asleep the night before! She has gone through a few portable tape players in the last few years - why, I don't know, but it made sense not to buy her a very expensive one.
I chose this one partly because there are very few of them on the market these days and the choice was limited to this or a more expensive one with a radio. She never listens to the radio so that seemed an unnecessary expense and complication for her to deal with.
She is delighted with this one - the controls are very simple and she can feel her way tound them (remeber, she is aprtially sighted). The sound quality is better than the previous, much more expensive one and it is very light.
I would say this is the ideal product if you want to listen to your old tapes on a decent quality machine and don't want to pay too much for the pleasure.
