Product Description

New! Burn Blu-ray Disc from timeline:

Provides functionality to burn a no-menu Blu-ray Disc directly from the timeline. These discs are burned in BDMV format to BD-R, BD-RE, and DVD recordable media. Projects can be encoded as either MPEG-2 or AVC utilizing Dolby or PCM audio in stereo or 5.1 modes. Blu-ray Discs provide an alternative to streaming and file-based distribution for high-definition content. Beyond support for 25GB and 50GB Blu-ray Discs, Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition supports burning BDMV on 4.7GB and 8.5GB standard DVD media, providing a low-cost opportunity for users to distribute high-definition content with traditional DVD burners and media.

Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum software provides an updated wizard for creating new projects. They provide a simple approach to ensuring new projects are created correctly from the start. The new wizards help users ensure the project is delivered in the correct, optimized format for its final destination. The new Make Movie wizard eliminates the guesswork for delivery and provides optimized files in a few simple clicks for Web, DVD, email, or for publishing movies to YouTube.

New! Enhanced Sony AVCHD support:

New functionality includes importing files directly from Sony AVCHD camcorders and most other brands. Supports editing all types of AVCHD camcorder files, including files from the latest generation of 1920 x1080 AVCHD camcorders. Support for 1920 x 1080 ensures that the footage from the latest 1920 cameras can be edited natively on the timeline.

Surround sound mixing and encoding:

Import multichannel (5.1) source files from your camcorder including Sony DVD and AVCHD Handycam models. Use the surround sound mixing and panning tools to create surround DVD soundtracks.

Solving Registration Problems 12 Jan. 2010
By Steven K. Hovland - Published on Amazon.com
Sometimes you can't register this product on an XP machine because the correct permissions are not written to the registry. I had this problem and it made me crazy until I called their support line.

This whole thing started when I decided it was time to upgrade from Version 3 of Adobe Premiere Elements. I purchased Version 8 but it crashed so much I sent it back to the Chairman of the Board asking for a refund. I have now received the paperwork for this.

I also tried the Corel product but it does not seem to have a sharpen filter, which is a fatal flaw for me.

From what I have seen so far Movie Studio has very nicely implemented filters. When you drag one to the timeline a screen usually opens up that gives you precise control over the filter and also shows you a list of the filters that have already been applied.

Here is their solution to the registration problem, which worked for me: (1-800-577-6642 is their support line) We found my problem under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sony Creative Software. You may also find it under HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

If you installed the software to a user account with full administrator privileges, and are still receiving this error, it is likely that the permissions did not get written into the registry correctly during the installation process. To resolve this issue, click on Start > Run and enter REGEDIT.

Within the Registry go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\, find the Sony Media Software folder (for older Sonic Foundry applications you would find the Sonic Foundry folder instead).

Right click on the folder and choose Permissions.

Make sure that Administrators, System, and any user account you log in with are all listed at the top. When you highlight each one they should have the Full Control and Read checkboxes turned on. If not, check each of those. Click Apply and Ok.

Do the same for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sony Media Software\ folder, and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Sony Creative Software\ folder.

The registry folders our software will create entries in are as follows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sonic Foundry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sonic Foundry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Media Software

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software

Complicated 22 July 2012
By Palliz - Published on Amazon.com
OK for those folks out there that are 'teckies' & really into videography well this product is probably great but for people like myself who just want to basically edit HD home movies to view with family & friends this is a nightmare!
Seriously it is just sooooo complicated - the menu is like cutting your way through dense jungle with an undersized machete..............Now that may sound like an overstatement but like I said if you're just an average Joe looking to edit your movies then do yourself a favor & look for something else.

Nice when it's not crashing.... 13 Dec. 2010

My title says it all.... Particularly when you get towards the end of project that you have invested a significant amount of time into, for it to crash constantly is extremely annoying. I have heard that this is not all that uncommon a problem.
