I purchased this lens to give me better close up video and it does very well. If you are at the full extent of the camcorder zoom then you can see it working overtime trying to adjust and keep focus. All you need to do is back up a touch and it works well. I have just completed another DVD production using this lens and I was able to get much better close-ups of the faces. Very glad that I bought this.

This Sony 1.7x Tele conversion lens is a quality item , I have no complaints with it at all, it works well with the HD recording SR11 , gets me closer to my wild life that I love to stalk and film, and the recordings are stuning . Full marks.
before buying i red some comments from costumers saying not so good, disappointing, etc... i was in a hurry; i was leaving for the total eclipse of the sun, in july 2010, and took a chance. The result was great! with a sony HD camera the 1,7 x zoom factor delivered a nice size for the sun's disk at a very reasonable price. if it is good for the sun at such distance, it will be good for everything else here on earth ;-)

This lens is not as powerful as you might expect. I have a HDR-SR12E camcorder with a 12x optical zoom. This lens in effect makes it a 13. Read more
