If you can get over the fact that PSone games will never have the same graphics as modern games, then this is an excellent game. It is very long but I enjoyed the challenge and because the game progresses in ability, then challenges that would of seemed impossible when you first start, are actually attainable, I got a really good sense of achievment when I finally finished this game. Howvever, it can be quite creepy in places, especially if you're playing with the lights of at night when your by yourself, it's definately not a game for kids! Overall, I love this game and think its one of the best on the PSone, if you like Silent Hill then you should like this.

If you want a game with an imaginative, well written and well voice acted story - buy Shadow Man. If you want an very long action/adventure with significant and disturbing horror content that blends the best gameplay elements from the Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver game series - buy Shadow Man. If you want atmospheric, varied, complex, puzzle filled level design all effectively inter-linked and accessible throughout the game - buy Shadow Man. If you want smooth animation, pretty graphics, a stable frame rate and glitch free game - DON'T buy Shadow Man. It's truly bad from the technical point of view but, contrary to some of the comments here and other reviews you might read, it always remains playable. I should know - I've been through the game three times. Note I don't say completed it three times - one of the major glitches is that you might trigger (unknown cause) one which will make the game unfinishable! Search out the Dreamcast/N64 or PC version (if you can play them) in preference. The DC version, which I've also played, is far better looking, has a few design changes particularly in the earlier levels and just seemed to me to be technically better. It is a great game of it's type and if it wasn't hamstrung by these technical isues it would be considered one of the best games of its time.
