Control Your Device Wirelessly

Giving you ultimate wireless control of your device, this innovative handheld audio accessory connects to your device via Bluetooth, meaning you can move around freely and leave your phone in your pocket, bag or anywhere within Bluetooth range (up to 10 metres) and still listen to music, make and take calls and get notifications. When a call comes in via your Smartphone, the display will show you who’s calling and you can even view recent calls and call again directly. As well as being a handset, the SBH52 is supplied with headphones, so it can be used as a headset for hands-free calling, and because you can use it simultaneously with your device, you can also multitask.

Impressive Sound

Provided that your phone and network service are available, the SBH52 is HD Voice ready, meaning that when you’re on a call, the person you’re talking to will experience crystal clear voice audio, and thanks to Sony authentic audio, which gives you deep bass and clean and clear treble, you can hear your music the way it was made. With either the supplied headphones or the built-in speaker, you can enjoy online entertainment with excellent audio via your phone, tablet or laptop. What’s more, the display will show you the artist name and track information. So whether you clip it to your clothing or bag when you’re working out, or you’re at home and want to control your music without having to get up from your seat, the SBH52 lets you skip through tracks and answer calls with ease. Not only that, but the Smart Bluetooth Handset SBH52 has a built-in standalone FM radio with RDS, so you can enjoy real time entertainment wherever you are.

Easy to Use

As well as being lightweight and compact with simple buttons for controlling music, calls and volume, the SBH52 is extremely easy to pair to any device that supports standard Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP) including the most popular laptops, Smartphones and tablets, and if your phone is NFC-enabled, it’s even easier thanks to one-touch (NFC) connect and go. Simply touch the back of your phone to the back of the Smart Bluetooth Handset to start up and connect. This wireless headset will also connect to two Smartphones or other devices at the same time.

Smart App-Enabled

Optimised for Android, the SBH52 has a selection of app extensions available at Google Play for making this accessory smarter than the rest, including a call log to browse recent calls in your display and a clear OLED display so you can read text notifications and messages more easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swiss army knife of a Bluetooth Headset! 8 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase
Bought this to work with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It does not disappoint!

Firstly the device is larger than an average BT headset but you do get a lot in return. The main function for listening to audio wirelessly through the earphones is obvious (and sounds very clear with good bass levels) and the inclusion of FM radio is very welcome and works nicely with RDS information on the clear bright OLED display.

But, where this device differs is that you can remove the earphones and the device works like a mini mobile phone. You can hold it up to your ear and make use of the phone speaker and microphone. I tested it out and my caller could not tell the difference, all was clear and audible. There's a separate speaker for speakerphone function if you prefer. That speaker will also allow you to playback music too or take advantage of text to speech from incoming notifications.

If you use it on an Android device there are a few smart apps compatible with it. These are for notifying you of SMS, Gmail, Calendar events, Twitter and Facebook. Those messages scroll along the screen meaning you don't have to get the phone out to read them. As stated you can get the messages read out for you if you wish.

Finally the other killer feature if you have a NFC enabled device, is that this will pair instantly by bumping together the devices each time you turn it on!

Only criticism is the device when used as a 'phone' handset is small so you don't get brilliant comfort when holding it to your ear but it's a small price to pay if you don't want someone to rob you of your phone or risk dropping it when in a call. Also it's a fingerprint magnet!

I do highly recommend this device if you have one of the new larger phablet style premium phones. It's great!

1.0 out of 5 stars Connection stability way below expectations 2 May 2014

This is my third sony bluetooth headset. I've had this headset for approx. 3 months now. When it works, it's OK, but there are some annoying flaws with it. I use it connected to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

1) When turning on the device, sometimes it goes directly into pairing mode - even though it was paired when I turned it off.
2) If the device has been on, but has been out of range from my cell phone, it is usually not possible to reconnect the two. I have to restart the device.
3) Sometimes the headset/phone randomly drops the connection even though they are within range. The bluetooth symbol on the phone suggests that they are still connected, but neither calls nor music are directed to the headset. I need to restart the headset.
4) Occasionally the phone pops up with a message to pair the two again - even though I did pair them earlier the same day.

I wrote to sony support back in february about issues 1 and 3, and they acknowledged the issues and said they were working on them, promising me a firmware update in march. Nothing has happened since.

All in all, I'm am not satisfied with this product, and it feels like a huge step backwards from previous sony bluetooth headsets that worked far better.

Been waiting for a while for this to come out, and now it's here, it's a permanent member of my kit.

Bluetooth range is exceptional for line-of-sight, and very good for indoor. Audio quality when being used as a headset is good as well, although the noise cancellation could do with some work (according to the wife, who was on the receiving end of a windy call!)

Negatives really are only the app compatibility. Because it's a new piece of hardware, apps are a bit limited, but the range is growing. That, and the small cable on both the bundled earphones and USB cable are a bit of a shame.

Love this one. I am using it all the time since I got it. Very handy and easy to use. Very much worth it. Best with devices having NFC enabled coz u dont have to turn on the bluetooth, it does itself and connects easily. Easy to sync with contacts and recent calls.

This handset is really good. It can be used as a replacement for those of us who have large handsets or phablets like the Samsung Note 3 or the Sony Experia Z Ultra. It has a display which shows the name and number of the caller so you don't have to take your phablet out of your pocket to see who is calling before you answer.

You can also go through the call log and initiate calls from this handset without bringing your phablet out of your pocket.

This handset also doubles as an mp3 player for music playback and has a built in FM tuner.

Audio quality for calls is quite good with the supplied headset but you also have the option to use any 3.5mm compatible headset of your choice with this handset.

My only problem with this handset (and for me this is a deal breaker) is that there is no way to mute the ringer. If you're in a meeting and you've muted your phone for incoming calls, the SBH52 still rings out. It would be nice to be able to mute the handset and put it on vibrate. It's for this reason that i scored it 4 stars.

If the inability to mute this handset is is not a problem for you, then this is most definitely a five star handset.
