I asked a colleague to bring his VITA to work so I could check it out to see if I wanted one. First thing that struck me is how well made it felt. It feels great in the hands and is clearly a quality product. Try to get your hands on one and im sure you'll be impressed enough to buy one for yourself. I would compare it to the original IPOD for impact in this regard.
My old and knackered wrists generally find gaming on portables for long periods very uncomfortable. I was limited to 30 mins tops on my PSP and DS but I am playing on the VITA for 2-3 hours with no problems at the moment.
I have played Wipeout, Need for Speed, Uncharted, Gravity Rush (weird game by the way) and Rocketbirds so far and thanks to PS PLUS I have more games to play for very little outlay. I think I worked out that it was £2 a month or there abouts.
Only think I would say is that most of the games you get in this pack are mere distractions and wont hold your attention for long. You'll also need a 32GB memory card which is about £40, so getting setup is quite expensive.
That being said I do not feel hard done by. Normally I get pings of regret a few weeks after buying gadgets like this but I really like the vita. It is such a good device that deserves to be a success and if only Sony would buck up there ideas with more games im sure it will sell in greater numbers.
In addition to the above, it is also a reasonable web browser and plays videos beautifully. Sound quality through headphones is excellent. Its own speakers are ok but a bit lacking is oomph.
Battery life is excellent for this kind of device and I love that I can pause the game and do something else on the device and jump straight back in where I left off.
If you've got any questions post a comment on my review and ill check back later.
