An amazing piece of kit that works great both on my PC*, and my friends PlayStation 4. It's perfect for someone like myself who likes to play shooters and fighting games. Fantastic dpad, and finally some decent triggers on a PlayStation controller. It's no longer a chore to play FPS games, and I no longer have to switch to a fight stick for fighters. Very happy with this overall.

*For those wondering about how I got this to work on PC. It's a piece of freeware called InputMapper.

ps4 controller on PC

I have been using the ps4 controller for almost 3 weeks now.

Coming from a PC gaming background with X360 controller, i was expecting it to be a difficult transition to be using the ps4 controller (having disliked the dualshock 3)
I was very pleasantly surprised with the ease of use on fifa 14.
The sticks are much more responsive that the x360. Lot lesser deadzones. Trying special moves is easier with the new thumbsticks. The Dpad is a lot more usable than on the 360 as well and the triggers have lesser resistance.

Sony have officially stated that the DS4 will come with basic PC support and watching some videos on youtube where users have successfully paired their ds4 to pc gave me confidence to opt for the DS4 over the xbox one controller as the xboxone does not gain pcsupport until mid 2014 earliest (as reported by major game magazines).
Nevertheless, I was still concerned about PC connectivity and game compatibility, thankfully Inhexter's fantastic DS4 to xInput mapper has done the trick. ([...]
It maps the x360 controller buttons to the DS4 and basically with this tool enabled, every game that accepts a x360 controller accepts the ds4.
Brilliant tool and as of the latest update, I have used the touchpad on the DS4 as a general mouse for my PC flawlessly and used the LED as a battery indicator as well.
Wireless (via bluetooth) works out of the box as well, however if you are on win 7 pc with an intel Bluetooth chip, chances are your DS4 will have to be used wired (owing to win 7 driver problems). On Win 8 pc's works perfect everytime.

Overall, the triggers feel a lot more responsive in fps games (tried battlefield 4) and as mentioned earlier, the accuracy of the thumbsticks are vastly improved.Read more ›

This controller seems to have had mixed reviews. However i think its a great improvement. after playing with it for around 2/3 months now, picking back up a DualShock3 (DS3) controller feels empty. R&L2 triggers are greatly improved and feel nicer. analog sticks feel better and trackpad is a nice touch.
The controller fits well in your hands.

Now this wouldn't be a review if i didn't list bad points; as far my only weakness is the analog stick fading after play (given the time i had the one that came with it, its pretty bad) but getting onto sony should get you a replacement as its well in warranty) this along with the L2 or R2 buttons sticking (The latter in my case) is all over the net. there are videos on fixing it yourself and i have tried and it helped 'a bit'. So Im just getting it replaced by Sony.
I also don't get why the Red/Blue ones cost from £5-£10 more. thats ridiculous. although if you have the money you can get the custom made Modded controllers for about £170...

I have brought this one as its easier to pick up and fully charged controller than sit with the usb plugged in and of course if i feel like playing with someone who is next to me for a change and not online.

Overall a good controller but make sure you enforce your consumer rights and warranty if something does go amiss... Have Fun

My ideal controller

This controller is exactly what I wanted. It feels and looks amazing and I really enjoy using it. I wanted this controller to be something different from the ordinary PS3 controller (Next-Gen) and this is exactly what It is. Firstly there is the new touchpad. It looks very smart on the controller and it works surprisingly well. It is simple to use but adds a very nice touch to the gaming experience, I always like it when I have to press it, especially in Killzone Shadowfall when you use it to alter your bot.

Next is the analog sticks. The raised edges mean that your fingers do not slide off and they are well positioned so that they feel very comfortable, unlike the PS3 controller which some people complained the analog sticks weren't well positioned and they felt uncomfortable.

Then there's the triggers. They are slightly curved and I have no problems with them, they feel perfect. I also love the share button, it is simple to use and is very effective and I love sharing gameplay and watching my friends gameplay!

Overall I really do recommend this controller. It feels incredible as it rests in your hands and it adds a great touch to the next-gen experience. I couldn't ask for anything more from this fantastic controller and it passed my high expectations by a mile!

Great looking but the rubber on analogue stick breaks easy

Great looking Controller and sony got the new controller right as feels alot better than the old PS3 controller but the rubber grip on the analogue stick wears easy and rips. Only used this one for 3 months and it has torn already.
