these tape are in 3 colours so it is easy to tell one from the other... they do not have the CM feature but you get what you pay for... £9.99 for 3 is a bargain... to be honest I have not found anything that I require from the extra features provided by the Excellence tapes with the CM feature on my new DCR-HC18E camera. Great value... good quality on both sound and visual and the different colours are a nice touch.. and £10 is a bargain!!
These tapes appeared to be OK until I tried the orange coloured one. Not only did it not record properly but it also put some sort of dirty deposit on the camcorder head so that any other tape wouldn't play until I had used a tape cleaner (they are £19 each!!!). This was probably only a "one off" but I've had to return them all. I have used other Sony DV tapes and they are great, just one of these tapes must have been faulty.
These tapes were really good, the only problem being that they were a little short, but they come in a 3 pack anyway! I found many other people rate them very highly, and I rate them over JVC and Panasonic tapes.
I have used these tapes with a Sony TRV 16 mini digicam with exceptional results. I have tried TDK and JVC so far - to be honest it would take expert analysis on one use but the Sony did take a couple of early re-records with more stability. Not the cheapest - but the best never is...
I've had two sets of these tapes now and have tried to use them with my Sony TRV33a. For some reason, they don't seem to be compatible. I get grey bars across the picture (indicating a dirty recording head) and the only way to fix the camera after using these tapes is to use a tape cleaner. It appears that something is being transferred to the tape head and causing a malfunction. All other MiniDV tapes are fine. Sony says that it it probably a bad batch. I'll stick to the Premium tapes in future, I think.
