Hello, if you want to play games on a standard TV (CRT-screens) it is only possible with the new PSP 3000 and a cable like this one: Sony PSP -2000 AV Cable (PSP) (three plugs, the yellow one for the video, red and white for the sound). I checked it out and the result is not very enjoyable. While fotos and videos look great, the game display is only about half of the screen size and the colours and contours don't look good. With the PSP 2000, you can o n l y show photos and videos on a tube TV. The first PSP generation (1000) is not compatible at all with any TV. Using a PSP Component Cable (5 plugs, 3 for the picture, 2 for the sound) you can connect a PSP 2000 or a PSP 3000 to a modern flat screen. There you can show pictures and videos and play games, but again the games are shown only on a smaller section of the screen (depending on its resolution). Another issue is the cable length, I bought cables with only 2,1 m length, which is very short, so you have to sit pretty close to your TV. After trying both alternatives with my PSP 3000, I have to say its okay to show pictures and to watch videos, but playing PSP games on a TV I would not actually recommend.
When you connect the PSP to the TV, there is a menu under settings on your PSP that lets you switch to the connected display. The display of your PSP is then blank. Good luck and happy gaming.
