4.0 out of 5 stars
I liked it every much, 27 Mar 2010
This review is from: Sony NWZW202W W Series 2GB MP3 Walkman - White (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
In terms of build quality i believe its very good. The plastic doesn't feel cheap, and the ear pieces feel comfortable. Its also quite light.
I didn't like the fact that the operation light (which tells you if your battery is low) is on the inside, so the only way you know if its low is by taking your mp3 player off and looking it at, you cant glance at it, and it doesn't appear in the corner of your eye.
The software works great in general, although i did notice when you switch off the Zappin' feature quickly the song that you were listening to doesn't play immediately, you have to wait or try turning the zappin feature on and off again.
It comes with a nice stand, and a cover to prevent the magnets from destroying you credit cards it seems, its not strong in my opinion, but i guess that's just a legal thing. Speaking of documents, there are a bunch of booklets in the packaging! and you also get a PDF version of the manual on the player.
You only get 1.67GB (Not 2GB), which is something i dont like, since this is a low capacity device as well. That 300 something mb would have held another 2 albums!.
The sound quality was good, was surprised, i expected it to be poor for this price and size. Bare in mind that i'm no expect, but i did compare it to a Zune 30gb player and a h120 iriver and it was on par.
Battery life was pretty good, about 8 hours, but i did use high volume and kept changing the tracks and generally messing around with it.
I was disappointed to notice its not weather proof, this would make a great player for a jog, even in the rain! but alas you cant, well technically at least.
You also get some software that's supposed to help transfer songs, but really its as simple as drag and drop. You can use windows media player if you want.
If this has a slot for micro SD i would have really loved it!
The controls are simple, but i cant seem to make the song fast forward (within the song) only go next track and previous track, which works by rotating the jog dial. Zappin' feature basically plays the best bits of each song before going to the next track. It works well, i tried it with Barry White, Ludacris, 50 Cent, Carrie Underwood, Esthero, MJ etc and they all worked well.
Over all i think its a good player if you're in the market for a low capacity model similar to the ipod shuffle, shame there is no expansion slot though.

Good, but a little heavy for jogging., 22 April 2009
This review is from: Sony NWZW202W W Series 2GB MP3 Walkman - White (Electronics)
As a screen-less, light and low-capacity PMP the NWZ-W202 reflects Sony's well-founded reputation for build quality, sound quality and design. The earbuds are comfortable and the player sits naturally in the ears.
The problem I found is that while running the weight of the earpieces is such that as one is moving from foot to foot, the vibration shifts the buds in and out of the ear slightly, generating a distracting rhythm in the background. I see no such problems if the player is used in static exercises.
The controls, contrary to some reviews, are in my opinion extremely easy to use and the Zappin feature selects a sensible track sample 9 out of 10 times if you use the software provided with the player to analyze and transfer the tracks.
The software (Content Transfer 1.1) doesn't transfer WMP 11 playlists which is a little annoying, but save them in the .m3u format and you can use iTunes instead.
Overall this player is good, but the weight at the ears, not to mention the two modules' unfashionable similarity to over-large bluetooth headsets, prevent me awarding 5 stars.
