Share the fun
In a first for WALKMAN®, the S Series boasts built-in stereo speakers. So now when you’re in the park, on the beach or just out and about with friends you can all enjoy your music in perfect stereo. The same goes for videos, which really come to life on the impressive high resolution 2.4-inch colour LCD screen.
The choice is yours
The WALKMAN® S545 works with TV and radio downloads from the BBC iPlayer. That opens up access to over 400 hours of new TV and radio shows for your Walkman every week.
A built-in FM tuner sets you free to explore 30 pre-set radio stations too. Broadcasts can be recorded at the touch of a button, so you can save your favourite programmes to listen to later on the move, in the car or at home.
Music, videos and photos are just a drag and drop away
WALKMAN® works with open format files, which means that no matter where your entertainment is stored, you’ll be able to transfer and enjoy it while you’re on the move. You can easily transfer tracks from iTunes to your Walkman using the included Content Transfer software. Alternatively use Windows Media player or even just drag and drop from Windows Explorer.
The S545 supports a range of major formats including WMA for music and WMV for video.
Picture perfect
The high-resolution LCD screen displays videos, photos and album art in clear, sharp detail. Thanks to QVGA technology they’ll all take less time to load, while the generous 2.4-inch screen lets you view videos in widescreen format. Menus are clear too, providing easy-to-understand shortcut icons for access to a range of features, just like your mobile phone.
Hours and hours of enjoyment
At 16GB the WALKMAN® S545 can be filled with up to 3,850 tracks or 60 hours of video. That’s a lot of entertainment, and you’re going to need plenty of time to enjoy it. That’s why the S545 has an incredibly long playback time of up to 42 hours’ listening (MP3 128kbps), or 6.5 hours for video (MPEG-4 Simple Profile 384kbps). Commutes, flights, road trips can all have a soundtrack now, thanks to the powerful in-built battery, which has a charge time of just 2.5 hours.

Small, stylish and practical
Just 10mm thick and available in black and red, the super-compact, slim and light WALKMAN® S545 slips easily into any pocket or bag. Despite its size, it’s packed with serious features to enhance enjoyment of your personal media collection.
It’s not just a powerful media device, it looks great too. And as with any great design, its sleek, premium good looks also incorporate practicality – most notably with the big, easy-to-push buttons.
Stunning sound quality
Enjoy your music just as it was intended, thanks to two built-in audio technologies. Clear Stereo reduces leakage between the left and right channels, resulting in a sound true to the original recording. Add to that a rich, deep bass delivered without distortion by Clear Bass and together they ensure you experience a natural, clear sound, just like being at a live performance.
These technologies are enhanced by Dynamic Normaliser, which balances volume levels between songs for smoother listening. And there’s a choice of five selectable equaliser modes, like Jazz, Pop and Heavy, for you to get the most out of different music genres.

Great Little Walkman,

After owning an Ipod Classic and having to go through their Itunes software every time, this is so much better. It's easy to use, it, unlike the Ipod has a radio too! A great little Walkman!

Good, but at a cost.,
By Gilda Henshaw (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony NWZS545B S Series 16GB Walkman with Built-In Stereo Speakers - Black (Electronics)
I decided to upgrade from an older NWZ-A729 to the S-series to take advantage of the speakers, the radio, voice recorder and new video formats. It's a great Mp3 player with awesome sounds, but i do have several issues:
1. The supplied head phones are naff. 2. The video stand can't be attached like on previous models. 3. Tons of software features from previous models have been omitted, such as: playing one video after another automatically, blanking the screen on 'hold' whilst watching a video, displaying the 'new' icon for recently uploaded videos and many more. 4. The screen contrast is better but with less forgiving viewing angles. 5. Just turning it on shows the 'updating library' screen. 6. I have had to reset the device several times due to lock ups. 7. You can set the alarm and still used the Walkman. 8. The video formats are so specific it's pointless trying to get anything better than the standard mp4. 9. The main buttons are very 'plasticcy'. On the plus side: 1. The radio and voice recording is great. 2. The sleep function is good. 3. Duel volumes for speakers and head phones is a nice touch. Basically, if you upgrade like i did you may be disappointed (as the nwz a729 is superb) if you're not upgrading and for the price it is a superb choice.

handy dandy,
This review is from: Sony NWZS545B S Series 16GB Walkman with Built-In Stereo Speakers - Black (Electronics)
I don't think I could be much more happy with this than I am. The video transfer software is very forgiving. The screen is bright and vivid. The controls are intuitive. I've been very happy with the battery life. It powers itself down it paused for a while. If it's off and you press play, it only takes about two seconds before it begins playing from where you left off last.
My gripes are both minor and few. It doesn't seem to recognize album art if it is saved as a .gif file. The other is that Sony goes with 1000mb=1gb instead of the technically correct 1024mb=1gb.
