I wanted a small, compact mp3 player to use at the gym (I bought a neat little armband for that) and because I travel quite a bit. The battery life is great, I can go away for a week without needing to recharge it and the size means I can carry it around airports, trains and meetings in my jacket pocket rather than in a separate bag. Transferring music is simple - drag and drop, both mp3 and Windows Media files so no need to comvert everything to mp3 format. The display is small but reasonably easy to see and navigation is simple. In fact I started to use the player without reading the user manual so it's pretty idiot-proof. I didn't require a lot of features but this has a bass boost and shuffle option which I use regularly. The sound is good and the FM radio option offers a bit of variety in the middle of a week away from home. All round a great little player which is very simple to use.

I have always been skeptical about purchasing expensive branded players.
Instead, I used to buy 1-2GB cheap players for 12-20 quid, which broke after a year. They also ate my batteries even when at rest. To get round this I used to buy rechargable ones, which I then lost. One day I thought - why don't I just pay more in the first place and have no replaceable batteries and last longer.
This player is a corker for the following reasons:
- 3 min USB charge = 3 hours - this is excellent and the money is worth it just for this feature
- Nice sound - usual crazy bass boost if you need it
- Drag and drop or syncs well with Windows Media player
- Easy navigation, play a: play list, album, random or just plough through your library
- Solid and well made.
- Light and small - mine hangs around my neck
Add this player to a pair of good ear phones and you are good to go.

Much improved over the model it replaced.
Good FM radio, uses standard PC software - not Sony's own, good all round prduct.
Size makes it ideal for running.

Basic, easy to use and good value
