The brand new Sony MP3 WALKMAN is the most cutting-edge yet, combining high-end design with ease-of-use and advanced functionality which seriously upgrades your listening experience. The 20GB NW-A3000 has space for up to 13,000 songs with up to 35 hours battery life and is made from a futuristic translucent material, sexy to the touch and gorgeous to look at. Whether you’ve owned an MP3 player before or you’re new to them, you’ll find the new WALKMAN so simple to use. Just like a mobile phone, the display features nine navigational icons on the home menu from which you can manoeuvre up, down, left and right to search, shuffle and access all your favourite tracks. The search method is much simpler to use than other players as it’s easy to jump straight to the artist, album or song via their initials, rather than scrolling up and down a long list.
The WALKMAN features a revolutionary new ARTIST LINK function. This means that if you’re listening to an artist or track and you press the artist link button the new WALKMAN will search, find and display similar artists in that genre. What’s more, you can also choose how to ‘shuffle’. By selecting ‘My Favourite Shuffle’, the device automatically selects the most listened to 100 songs and plays them at random. The ‘Time Machine Shuffle’ function randomly selects a year and plays all of the songs from that particular year that are currently held on the device.
The WALKMAN will be accompanied by a whole range of design-matching accessories; a stylish remote control for easier navigation, various carrying cases, a docking station for convenient connection with the PC, as well as a docking speaker system giving the option to connect to a PC (data sync) and play music through the speakers
CONNECT Compatible
The WALKMAN comes complete with brand new software called "CONNECT Player". This software is necessary to store, transfer and update all your tracks on your PC. And with the CONNECT music downloads fully integrated into this software, it’s easy to go on-line and download tracks from the Sony music service.
CONNECT lets you access hundreds of thousands of tracks from old favourites to brand new cuts – and even more independent music that’s usually harder to find. What on earth is all the fuss about?!,

I've had my Sony 20gb for about a month now; used my old SonicStage software, transferred all my music in no more than 10 mins (around 10,000 songs) and haven't had a moment's problem since. Uploaded some music since, too, quick, easy and no hassle. You guys who think you should have got an ipod? You've just bought the hype.....wait until you've had to have it replaced 3 times and then it runs out of warranty! And my teenage daughter thinks its cool!
I'd recommend this to anyone.

Great Player, Poor Software,

The player itself is a superb piece of design, but again the software is so unbelieveably complicated to use.I Strongly reccomend Downloading RealPlayer, as as well as being free - it is very user friendly and can also encode cds into pretty much any format you care for, including ATRAC3, which is Sony's own format. Ive been using Realplayer for a few years now and all ive needed to do is install the Sony software and then just ignore it (as Realplayer needs some codecs from the sony software). I bought my girlfriend one of these MP3 players, She wanted an Ipod and I can understand why as she isn't very technical and when MP3 players are mention it is the Ipod everyone seems to talk about, but I was looking at MP3 players for myself and thought about this one but didn't make the plunge due to the storage being to low, I'm ideally looking for 60gb player but just waiting for a decent alternative to the Ipod. Anyway the Sony NW-A3000S 20GB Walkman MP3 Player is fantastic I was really impressed it looks really good, it isn't too big, battery life is spot on maybe not the quoted 35hrs but you'll get 20+ and sound quality is great. You get a decent amount of accessories with it compared to the ipod, there's no need to spend £20 quid on a charger with this player. The only problem I had with the player was the connect software, it does work, it works fine but I have a reasonably new PC with windows media centre 2005, it runs really smooth usually but when the connect software is on it just gets temperamental and everything goes at a snails pace. I think this is a draw back but hopefully Sony will use their heads and come up with a fix.
