Featuring MDLP long time stereo recording and playback, Skip-Free G-Protection technology and a playback battery life of up to 48 hours from a single AA battery, the MZ-R501 keeps the music coming so you can keep on going.

This stylish black MiniDisc Walkman easily slips into a pocket for personal enjoyment just about anywhere. MDLP Long Time Stereo Recording and Playback lets you record 2x (LP2) or 4x (LP4) longer on an 80-minute MiniDisc to provide as much as 320 minutes (over five hours) of music with excellent sound quality. G-Protection technology makes the MD Walkman an ideal on-the-go companion, ensuring perfect playing performance without skipping even during such active uses as jogging.

Digital Mega Bass sound system provides rich, deep bass tones with digital signal processing for virtually inaudible harmonic distortion. Digital recording level control allows you to achieve a consistent recording level on your MiniDisc no matter what the source of your recording.

The MZ-R501 is packed with other useful features. A pop-up eject mechanism makes for easy loading and unloading. The LCD display includes indicators that alert you to the time left on the MiniDisc for additional recording or to conclude playback, and provides a visible symbol of remaining battery power. The MZ-R501 is supplied with an AC adapter, optical cable and headphones.

This sleek little black number serves as an excellent entry-level minidisc recorder. It's small in size, and has few buttons so that even technogical novices can make use of it, but still carries all the functions you'd expect from any minidisc recorder. It produces excellent sound quality, and comes supplied with an optical cable for digital recording, AC adaptor and Sony's plug-in headphones, meaning that it is all ready to be used as soon as you take it out of the box. The only thing that could be improved would be the inclusion of a line cable for analogue recording, as many entry-level purchasers would not have equipment that produces an optical output. However, this can be easily rectified with £5 and a trip to your local hi-fi dealer, so this is of little real significance.

An excellent purchase.

This is a cheap mini disk player but only by price. The quality of playback is as good/better than a cd player even on LP2 (about 160mins one 1 disk)

It is fully jog proof which is excellent as a personal cd player that is jog proof will cost about £60 and who wants to carry a personal cd player with them whilst jogging or training.

I looked at the specifications and it said it was something like 3cm by 7cm by 8cm, when i drew a picture of it, it looked huge but when I got the player it was only 3cm wide where the single AA battery goes so it isn't very big at all.

I would recommend this to anyone, unless your stinking rich and you want to buy one of those £300 wafer thin ones. But for the average buyer, this couldn't be better (unless it had a rechargeable battery which would make it a bit smaller)

Well what can i say this tiny minidisc is a great product, i have put so many songs onto minidisc digitally, and the sound is great, the analogue recording has also good sound, with the package you get an ac power adapter,good headphones and most important the Optical cable which can be plugged into a hifi with a digital output, the sound quality is excellent even on MDLP4(longer recording time) all of this for a cheap price, if you are looking for a recordable minidisc which is cheap, go for this one!
