My first foray into expensive (for me) headphones, and I've not been disappointed.

Sturdy in construction and though made mostly of plastic, they don't look cheap and tacky.
The headband and earpads are surprisingly soft and padded which mean you can wear them for hours without them becoming uncomfortable. With all closed headphones heat can become an issue but nothing you wouldn't get used to.

I'm not an expert on sound; mid-range bass bleed and brightness mean nothing to me. But they sound good and even though it's a cliché I hear things in tracks I haven't heard before so in that regard I'm happy.
Isolation is good as is the lack of sound leakage, so perfectly acceptable for the train or a long plane journey.

Personally I wouldn't wear them on the street as with the latest trend (the same would go for most large headphones) but I wouldn't give two looks to someone who was. They work fine with MP3 players so no need for an amp and the 1.2m cord is thick enough not to get tangled easily, and aimed at portable music.

The only downside is the lack of an adapter or pouch, but I knew that before I bought it and aren't essential.

For under £100 you can't go wrong with these, and as usual dealing with Amazon (and 3rd party companies who the fulfil) is a pleasure.

Have to say I was a little let down by the delivery but I was more than compensated for that!so mdr zx700..............where do I start;Sony did a good enough job with the packaging and seller took it a notch higher, opening the package and the original box was quite straight forward!
Sitting gloriously in the box was a set of arguably the best under-seventy quid headphones!
sound was amazingly crisp and clear,mid-range notes and low-notes were well balanced and all that talk about the bass not being adequate is unfounded,if you have a well varied equalizer on your player.
I have found that most noise cancelling h.phones had to compromise on sound quality so I opted for noise isolating ones and I don't regret going with these ones, used them while walking on the high street and on the bus and it did a remarkable job in sealing out ambient noise and the comfort of the lush ear pads will make you never want to take them off.
The simple, rugged yet catchy look are massive selling points for this item.
For the price these headphones are a heavenly buy............................................

I ordered them on express delivery and they arrived on time which was good. The headphones were well packaged in a sturdy Sony cardboard box as you can see from the customer picture, this box could be used again for storage. In the box you get the headphones, the owner's manual and warranty card but no 6.3mm adapter or carry case, just to let you know.

The headphones themselves are very comfortable to wear with soft earpad cushions I found myself wearing them for long periods of time without my ears aching. They produce great sound quality and the bass is just right for me although if you're into heavier bass I would suggest Sony's Extra Bass range, from looking at various other reviews. They have good noise isolation although I have only tried them at home. The cord is quite short so these are probably expected to be used for portable devices.

All in all though, they are just what I wanted, in my opinion they look very nice and I would recommend to anyone.

These are excellent for use with PC audio, portable players, tablets, smartphones etc. They have a short (120cm) cable and they are easily sensitive enough to play music at high volumes even from low output devices. I'm using them with my Sansa Clip+, iRiver H340, PC audio, Archos 43IT tablet, and occasionally with my ancient but excellent home Sony CD/MD/Radio.

They are *extremely* comfortable and I've found no problem wearing them for hours at a time. They disappear from your consciousness leaving you to enjoy the music. I can compare them with my old Sennheiser HD 500 full size, open headphones; the Sennheisers are bigger and lighter and initially seem like they must be more comfortable; the Sonys are a much snugger fit around the ear but much easier to wear for long periods. This is because some genius at Sony has spotted what many others haven't: your ears are not attached perpendicularly! A headphone with a band that is angled and modeled for the human head works a lot better than a straight up and over design modeled for a testing dummy. The design has the kind of simplicity that makes you wonder why everyone doesn't do it this way. They offer a good level of isolation, much better than open back phones but nowhere near in-ears, and do a truly excellent job of keeping the sounds in so you don't annoy those nearby.

Sound quality:

I've been comparing them to my old Sennheiser HD 500 Fusion phones and my Sennheiser CX 95 and Klipsch Image X1 in-ear monitors.
