Great for the Economy Class Traveller,
By James O (West Yorkshire, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony MDRNC11 Open Noise Cancelling Headphones (Electronics)
The Sony in ear noise cancelling headphones are a must for frequent long haul economy flyers. The battery lasts for ages (several 10 hr flights - as long as you dont forget to turn them off!). Choose the right ear bud fitting so they are comfortable and just plug them in and the planes' noise just disappears. The headphones only really work for a constant noise - such as planes, cars and trains. The in ear ones are definatly the best option for travelling as the other brands are all to big and you will need another bag just to carry them. I have also fallen asleep in them several times too - with the sound right down they are like ear plugs!

Great on planes, OK on trains,
By Rod Murray (Reading, Berkshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony MDRNC11 Open Noise Cancelling Headphones (Electronics)
These headphones come into their own on a plane, where the constant roar is reduced to a quiet hiss. This means you can listen to music in comfort, or just turn off your music source and enjoy the peace. The noise cancelling effect is marginal on a train, and negligible with irregular sources such as voices or general office background noise.Battery life is good, and anyway you only need to replace one AAA battery. It took a while to get them to fit my ears, but Sony provide covers in 3 sizes so you have to experiment. Because of the extra weight in each earpiece (i.e. the microphones that pick up the ambient noise), they're prone to fall out if you move about. So I've gone back to regular headphones for normal use. For air travel these are a must - otherwise they're probably not worth buying.

Well worth it,

If you travel a lot on long haul, then these are definitely worth buying. Comfortable, small enough to put in a jacket pocket and they do work, very well indeed. Turn on the classic music channel and you're asleep in minutes !Don't leave them on the seat if you go for a walk - my first set were stolen.
