  • Regularly clean the recording head of your hardware by using a suitable cleaning cassette
  • Store your cassettes at a temperature of between 15 and 25° C, and at 40-60% relative humidity

    I have had one of these Sony MD lens cleaners for about 18 months now and it still works fine. I regularly use it and I find it keeps my Sony MDS-JE470 and Sharp MD-MT88 in top working condition. Unlike my sister who has had problems due to not using a lens cleaner on her player. I had previously used another lesser known brand lens cleaner but found it wouldn't work in my Sony deck due to it not having a full plastic case enclosure like a normal Mini Disc. The Sony lens cleaner had no such problems and I highly recommend it over other cheaper cleaners.

    the sony minidisc cleaner is a cheap and easy to use accessory. firstly a brand name like sony means good quality and this is no exception. i bought a cheap mini disc cleaner with small brushes and this really didn't seem to work, but after buying the sony cleaner you can really notice a difference in the music quality. also you dont need a sony minidisc player to use this. a small feature that you might not expect is the music that you get on the mini disc, 3 good tunes. it is very simple to use,all you do is put it in and press play. you should proberly use it about every 10-15 hours of use and you can use it about 50-60 times. overall its a great quality cleaner that delivers what it promises and it well worth the price.

    Abstract: Absolutely brilliant, it might cost some £££ but really, its worth it.

    I have a Panasonic Minidisc SJ-MR220 - perhaps outdated now but a superb piece of electronics. After around 7 months of use, I started having problems with Skipping and eventually the unit wouldnt recognise Minidiscs inserted. It was still under warranty so I sent it for repair. Came back with having a faulty optical unit replaced but then after a few months the same problem started (now with System Errors!) occuring only the 1 year guarantee was finished.

    Thats it I thought, so I started looking for another Minidisc until I read the above reviews. I thought might aswell give it a go, but I didnt want to order just this via Amazon. So i went out looking for it in the High Street stores - I was finding cheaper makes for around £** but I knew that the Sony would be the best bet. Found the Sony cleaner for £** (2/3 of the price bought through Amazon!) and stuck it in not expecting much.

    Admittedly, it wouldnt pick up the Minidisc but it was spinning it up - which I believe did it a load of good because I reinserted it and voila! It picked up the Minidisc and I "cleaned" my MD player 3 or 4 times and it now works perfect!

    In conclusion, it might be more expensive than other makes, but it is worth it! It really is! If Sony cant do it, then noone can!

    p.s. I owe around £100 to the guys above for the money they saved me - thanks!
