Great accessory for the Sony PRS-505 Reader.

I got this for my (January) birthday having received the reader itself as a Christmas present.

This is a great add-on: classy black leather case, with a built-in illuminated flip on screen that casts enough light to read by without disturbing those around you. The light is powered separately by two AAA batteries and has its own switch, so you only use it when you need it. The other really good thing about this case is you can fold it back over itself (like you might with a paperback or a magazine), making the reader even easier to hold while reading on the train/plane/automobile.

If you have a Sony Reader, get this!

I got an eReader as I have arthritic hands and find holding a book painful; it has revolutionised reading time for me.

This cover is excellent if I want to read in bed whilst my husband sleeps; but it does make the Reader considerably heavier to hold, and bigger, too.

Negatives:- If you're not using the light, it's a bit clumsy and awkward; you can't fold the light to the back of the Reader like you can with the other covers, and neither can you easily read the Reader through the unlit screen as it distorts the screen slightly (for some reason this is not nearly so apparent when it's lit up). So the screen has to sit to the left of the Reader if you're not using it; and this usually means two hands required!
You also need to be careful not to let the lightt-screen 'slap' against the Reader when you close the case, or you can permanently mark the Reader's screen.
It's not a 'blazing' light; it doesn't do a lot if the light in the room is just a little bit dim, it's more for reading in darkness.

Positives:- The usual 'mini-torch' style booklights don't work with a Reader; they simply reflect off the screen. This DOES!
The light only lights up the screen - not the entire room, and this means you can use it when your partner is trying to sleep without disturbing them. It's very handy to have it all-in-one - no extra 'bits' to carry around or lose. The batteries seem to last a long time, and replacements can be bought pretty-much anywhere (no searching for those difficult-to-find 'watch' style batteries)

To sum up; if you read at night while your partner sleeps, or on an aircraft at night, buy it. Other than that, don't bother!

The Sony e-Reader screen is not back-lit, so depends on incident light, eg a bedside lamp. This device removes the need for any other lighting and allows the reader to be used in complete darkness if you wish. The batteries seem to last well too (ours haven't run out yet, anyway). I can't comment on this supplier, as ours came from Waterstones.

I think this is a great item. The screen isn't 100% clear which is why it's got 4 stars instead of 5 but it's still a really great addition to the ebook reader. When I was in hospital it was invaluable as it meant I could read it all night if I wanted to without disturbing the other patients.

This is a great cover. It protects my sony reader completely. It is leather(black) and has an illuminated inner piece that covers the epage. this is really useful in bed or on a plane etc......I have had mine for about four months (still with the original AAA battery) and it makes my reader easier to hold and gives more of a feel of a "real" book.It also makes my reader look more like a book and actually means that in public it attracts less attention than it did without it.(which on public transport is probably a good idea)
