Experience style and substance
The TV's sleek 46" (116.8cm) screen not only enhances the viewing experience but looks stunning even when the picture is off. Switch it to Picture Frame mode and you can turn your BRAVIA into a work of art by displaying pre-installed images or your own photos and make great use of your wall space even when you're not watching TV. To allow you to enjoy the perfect fusion of image and sound, the speakers are hidden in the TV design and positioned for ideal sound elevation.

Enjoy authentic cinematic experiences
Cinema Mode is a new picture setting developed in collaboration between BRAVIA and Sony Pictures Entertainment. It allows films to be viewed as close to the original director's cut as possible. Cinema Mode precisely reproduces details such as natural skin tone, lighting, colour and contrast. In 24p True Cinema mode films can be watched as the director intended for the big screen - at 24 frames per second. Standard TVs use 25 frames a second which means they play back 'faster' than they do in the cinema.

Clearer, more life-like colours
Reds and greens are notoriously difficult to reproduce on an LCD screen. Live Colour intelligently boosts these colours making sure the images you see on your BRAVIA TV are bright, vibrant and realistic. Connect a compatible camera or camcorder and the TV will automatically switch to optimum settings for displaying photos and reproduce their full, realistic texture and colour.

Wow, I am simply over the moon with this TV.

It's incredibly easy to set up, you will have it fully up and running in about 30 minutes tops, however you will be required to play around with the picture settings (the default are not very good).

In the end, I found the following settings optimal:

    Scene: General

    Picture Mode: Custom
    Backlight: 3
    Contrast: 92
    Brightness: 52
    Colour: 42
    Hue: 0
    Colour Temperature: Warm 2
    Sharpness: Min
    Noise Reduction: Off
    MPEG Noise Reduction: Off
    Motionflow: Standard
    Film Mode: Auto 1

    Advanced Settings

    Black Corrector: Off
    Adv. Contract Enhancer: Off
    Gamma: 0
    Auto Light Limiter: Off
    Clear White: Off
    Live Colour: Off

    White Balance

    R Gain: 0
    G Gain: -1
    B Gain: -4
    R Bias: -3
    G Bias: 0
    B Bias: -1

I use these settings on its built in Freeview (HD and SD), and Sky+ (SD).

For my PS3, I keep the exact settings, however changed the Scene from 'General' to 'Game' to improve response time from controller input (This will also apply to the XBox 360).

The TV is only wireless ready, so the wireless dongle is NOT supplied, and must be purchased seperate (around £64.99 from what I can tell).

As of now, I am watching the Golf on BBC HD and it looks simply outstanding. However, I will say the following for anyone interested in the three (as of now) HD channels its Freeview comes with.

BBC HD: Every program on BBC HD is in HD, it's as simple as that.

ITV HD: Only select programmes are in HD, but the Freeview Channel Guide is kind enough to tell you if the programme is in HD or not. It will either say [HD] or [Upscaled]. Either way, on upscaled it still looks better than regular ITV.

Channel 4 HD: Pretty much the same as ITV (mixture of HD and SD broadcasts, however the Guide doesn't tell you if the programme is HD or not like with ITV. You will simply have to judge for yourself (it's very easy to tell though).

It was awarded a maximum 5/5 review from the highly respected site What Hi Fi, and was their Super Test winner of July 2010.

Overall, the TV is outstanding value for money, I simply cannot recommend it enough.

Top Class Sony 12 July 2010
    By TVNut
Great TV at a very good price (although price has since gone back up on some sites). Easy set up, brilliant picture. Black levels are superb and the sharpness on both Hi Def and STD Def is faultless.

Speakers are a little light weight but I expected that on an LCD so no disappointment there.

Anyone after a great priced 46" TV which gives a class leading picture performance should look no further.

    Well done Sony..

Outstanding LCD TV! 5 Oct 2010
After having great disappointment from buying LCD TVs from 2 companies which shall remain nameless, I was very sceptical about finding possible faults with the Sony KDL46EX503U. I could not have been more mistaken!
Th TV is absolutely exceptional! The picture is unbelievably clear (in HD and regular picture), setting up the channels is very straightforward and although I will probably buy some speakers in the near future, the sound is very impressive when compared to other LCD models I have viewed.
In conclusion, I am absolutely delighted at having purchased this model and if you are looking for a new LCD,I can highly recommend this TV!
