disappointing 24 Feb 2011
By ladyJ
Unfortunately I didn't take heed of the other poor reviews & had to find out myself :(

This is not a great TV - surprising as both my mum & boyfriend have bravia's but the EX models (which amazon said the BX was a newer version of - & therefore i assumed better).

Just like some of the other reviewers noted - the TV takes an annoyingly long time to boot up and the blurring on moving images was so bad while watching a lady with red lipstick that I had to change channel.

Looking at the reviews for the KDL32EX301U seems like it's a much better model for the same price. Don't make the mistake I did!

I was very disappointed with this TV. I was a little reluctant to buy it in the first place as it had no customer reviews on Amazon and a Sony Bravia 32" for under £300 seemed to good to be true. I should have trusted my instincts - the picture quality is dreadful. As another reviewer here has noted, it leaves trails across the screen whenever there is fast movement, especially when the image is quite dark. The other reviewer said that this can be got used to - well i disagree. I have tried to put up with it, but watching an episode of House last night was the final straw - the red of the characters lips was just being splashed all over the screen every time they moved - just unwatchable, so i am returning this item to Amazon.
I have another Sony 32" at home which I got 2-3 years ago which is excellent - the KDL-32D3000. Unfortunately this model is not a patch on that one. This model is very poor and is obviously aimed at those on a budget who aren't too fussy about quality: In fact i saw them stacked up in Tesco the other day. I have always trusted Sony but this has shaken my faith in them a bit - especially as I also recently had to return a Sony Blu-ray player (Sony BDPS370 Blu-ray Player) due to it emitting a loud whirring noise during playback. Once all of my refunds have been processed i think I will try a different brand of TV/Blu-ray player. It's either that or spend more on a decent Sony product instead of their bargain basement, bottom-of-the-range tat like this.

Average performance 28 Dec 2010
For the money I see this as pretty good value but be aware that it has its shortcomings. It takes a while to boot up after switching on. The picture quality is pretty poor compared to a CRT and when there is anything like fast action in a scene it leaves a 'trail' across the screen. Apart from these points, which can be got used to, I believe it to be good value for money.

Great tv at an excellent price
Great tv at the cheapest price I have seen. The spec was also higher than I was expecting. For example 4 x HDMI inputs instead of two! I would highly recommend this item. Read more
