BRAVIA X3000 Series LCD TV

Available in 40 & 46" Screen Sizes

If you’re looking for the ultimate in performance and design, Sony BRAVIA X Series is the flagship range from Sony boasting the ultimate in picture quality and design, allowing you to customise your X3000 Series to match your lifestyle via the wide range of colour bezels available.

BRAVIA X3000 Series LCD TV

HD1080p

HD1080p

HD 1080p offers you very high resolution to generate it's picture. The 'p' stands for 'progressive scan', which scans all the lines at once to add stability & smoothness to fast-moving images. This makes 1080p TV's excellent for sport broadcast & games.

Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview

Integrated Digital Tuner / Freeview

Having an integrated Digital Freeview Tuner means that your TV has a built in receiver that will give you access to many more channels without the need to have any additional hardware, such as a Freeview box. In 2007, the government will begin switching UK broadcasting to digital, so if your TV doesn’t have an integrated digital tuner feature you wont be able to view any channel without buying the additional hardware.

HDMI Sockets

HDMI Sockets

Your HDMI socket provides a connection point on your TV that is able to deliver a high definition picture. Quite simply, the more HDMI sockets that you have on your BRAVIA LCD TV, the more components you are able to link up to for HD picture quality, for instance, a Blu-ray player, your camcorder and your gaming console. Having the socket located in the front of the TV means that you no longer have to get into awkward positions or move the unit in order to gain access to the connection point, great if you’re viewing your photos on your TV via your digital camera. The X3000 has 3 – 2 to the rear and 1 on the side.

MotionFlow + 100HZ

MotionFlow + 100HZ

Conventional LCD televisions show 50 pictures (frames) per second (50Hz). Sony’s unique MotionFlow +100Hz HFR System doubles the pictures shown to 100 per second (100Hz). It does this by intelligently manufacturing the additional frames instead of simply repeating them. The result is smooth, judder free, natural motion. Ideal for watching action films, sports and gaming.

S Force Front Surround / Dolby Digital

S Force Front Surround / Dolby Digital

Unique surround sound technology that gives you 5.1 channel virtual surround sound from just 2 speakers. Using precise variations in timing and volume projection S-Force fools the brain into thinking the sound is coming from different directions.
This gives your BRAVIA LCD TV enhanced sound quality and the impression of 5.1 channel virtual surround sound without the need for extra speakers.

Live Colour Creation

Live Colour Creation

Live Colour Creation is a backlight system which produces a wider colour gamut, seen particularly with the red and green areas of the spectrum. So your TV picture will have more lifelike and natural colours with no smudging or dulling of the image.

BRAVIA Engine PRO

BRAVIA Engine PRO

This technology gives you greater definition & ensures that you’ll see every detail.

  • It reduces colour distortion by decreasing ‘cross colour’, ‘dot crawl’ and ‘moire’ the sort of distortion that you get on patterns such as a checked shirt. It cleans up the haze that you often see around lettering such as titles or text so that they appear perfectly sharp on screen.

  • It enhances specific areas of low contrast within the image giving an overall crisp picture.

  • It smoothes the motion, preventing jagged edges and bleeding colours on fast moving objects, ideal for sports & action sequences.

  • Matches colours. Exact colour reproduction ensures the final image is reproduced exactly as the original source intended meaning that you see incredibly natural colours.

  • It delivers enhanced digital reality creation, which in effect quadruples the number of pixels in any image source, which makes the image even sharper. When the entire process is finished it resembles the picture with more detail than ever before.

Dynamic Contrast

Dynamic Contrast

Contrast ratio is improved and all shades between the brightest white and the darkest blacks are maintained, so the picture has more depth and detail. This is achieved as the backlight brightness adjusts according to the brightness of the scene. Sony’s unique dynamic contrast system features ACE (advanced contrast enhancer) which ensures all of the subtle shades of grey are maintained.

24P True Cinema

24P True Cinema

'24p True Cinema' mode, is a perfect match for movies. Film is shot at 24 frames per second, but UK televisions operate at 25 frames per second. This means that when you watch a movie on DVD, you are seeing it sped up by 4 per cent. '24p True Cinema' enables the panel to display films at their intended 24fps (frames per second).

X.V. Colour

X.V. Colour

X.V colour offers a colour palette of 100% of the colour spectrum giving more depth, detail and natural images and is closer to the colour spectrum seen by the human eye.

BRAVIA Theatre Sync

BRAVIA Theatre Sync

A one touch control over your whole Home theatre set up. Simply press the Theatre button on the TV’s remote control, the TV’s sound turns off & the picture settings configure automatically to an optimal movie watching mode. BRAVIA Theatre Sync cuts out the complexity so that you can concentrate on enjoying your movie.

VESA Hole Spacing

VESA Hole Spacing

VESA-Standard or Video Electronics Standards Association is a perfect template for hole spacing (screw holes) in flat screens. So providing your wall bracket is also VESA standard, hanging your TV on the wall, for example, is a simple process without the frustration of drilling the holes incorrectly and in the wrong place.

Coloured Bezels

Coloured Bezels

Match your lifestyle via the wide range of colour bezels available. Light beige, Mocha, Mauve, Pale Gold, Scarlet red

5.0 out of 5 stars I want to give it 6 stars...., 17 Mar 2008
This review is from: Sony KDL-40X3000 - 40'' Widescreen Bravia 1080P Full HD LCD TV - With Freeview (Electronics)
I spent a (seriously) long time deciding which flat screen TV to get. As soon as I narrowed it down to Sony, it was clearly only ever going to be about the X-series. I initially ordered the 46" model, but decided to get the 40" instead so that it would fit more neatly in the space I have for it in my lounge. (I should point out that I didn't actually order this from Amazon, as I found it cheaper elsewhere).

It's difficult to know where to start with this amazing piece of kit in terms of reviewing it, because it really is soooooo good. Looks wise it is fantastic, with its glass surround, the screen has a 'floating' design and just looks great (especially sitting on the TV stand I bought seperately, which is clear and smoked black glass).

In terms of connectivity, this thing has got ports coming out of its ears. 2 Scart (which will clearly never be used), 3 HDMI (which is great in terms of future proofing), 2 components (I notice the tech description Amazon have here says 1 component, but it does have two), a pc connection, USB....the list just goes on and on...

When you finally get round to turning the thing on, the visuals are just stunning. I've currently got a Sony 250gb PVR unit plugged into it, which upscales output to 1080p, and an xbox 360 which can also output to 1080p. Both of these look incredible. INCREDIBLE. It's not just that the TV outputs at full HD (1080p), but also that it scans at 100 Hz too, so no worries about motion blurring. And it plays movies at 24p (24 frames a second, which is the speed that movies are recorded onto film. Normal TVs display at 25p, which means it's ever so slightly faster on those TVs than the film is supposed to be. On this Sony unit, the film is as it would be in the cinema. It's also an added incentive not to watch bad films, as they will now take that bit longer to finish.)

The sound is impressive too. Even without a 5.1 surround system, the sound is crisp and real, with a good range, picking up high and low tones with ease. And with the Bravia Theatre Synch system, it'll connect to a Sony surround sound system with a single touch of a button.

Its not short of clever features either, with PIP (picture in picture - for watching TV and your pc at the same time), PAP (picture and picture - watching two TV channels simultaneously/playing your xbox and watching TV), a photo viewer to run slideshows, a 7 day EPG, with a reminder features, freeze picture setting, significant control over display, sound and setting options and more....

Obviously you aren't going to choose which TV to buy solely based on a review by a random on Amazon, but I honestly cannot recommend this TV strongly enough. For the money, it is without doubt the greatest TV on the market. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best 1080p LCD on the market, 20 Mar 2008
By Mr. Jonathan Dixon (UK) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Sony KDL-40X3000 - 40'' Widescreen Bravia 1080P Full HD LCD TV - With Freeview (Electronics)
This is one amazing set. I had gone for the cheaper 46xf355 from Toshiba but had to send it back due to a really annoying fan noise. While I had it though even without the noise the picture quality was good but not great - watched Dantes Peak on HD DVD and some jaggies appeared in places at 1080/24.

No such thing on the Sony. The 100mhz is perfect no handy cam effect here. The theatre button on the remote is brilliant for films getting one of the best D65 pics out of the box.

Very cinematic watched Italian Job from Sky HD and was blown away by the picture.

If anything lets this tv down it would be its speakers they're okay but I must admit I would say the Onkyos of the Tosh were better. But hey what do you mean you dont have separate 5.1 anyway. They are good enough for normal tv viewing.

Its expensive in comparison (the 46xf355 was cheaper) but after seeing this I rather have less but of better quality. Trust me on this, buy one your eyes will thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sony KDL-40X3000, 26 Feb 2008

This review is from: Sony KDL-40X3000 - 40'' Widescreen Bravia 1080P Full HD LCD TV - With Freeview (Electronics)
I spent a lot of time on the internet researching my next Sony and I'm glad I settled on the 40X3000. The picture quality on 1080p is absolutely stunning, even using out of the box settings. You can fine tune it to suit your own particular preferences depending on what input you're watching.

The number of inputs was a big plus for me, 3 x HDMI which means Sky HD, Xbox 360 and Sony DAV-IS 10 all have HDMI connections.

Amazon force you to use their "White Glove" delivery service for this and if I'm honest I was a bit shocked to find out that this was with Home Delivery Network. I shouldn't have worried though, I received a phone call 48 hours before delivery giving me a 4 hour window and also a call from the driver 45 minutes before they arrived.
