Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

In these days of endless sequel after sequel it's quite a surprise to find out that a successful series like Jak & Daxter is coming to an end of its publisher's own volition. But--although the characters may well appear again in some other form--Jak IIImarks the end of the epic storyline that is now over three years in the making.

The first Jak & Daxter game was a fairly straightforward Rare-esque platformer, but the second game expanded the concept considerably to become a sort of cartoon style Grand Theft Auto. This third game removes some of the more unnecessary diversions of Jak II to become a more enjoyably focused action adventure. The actual story follows on directly and sees Jak and Daxter banished to the Wastelands--a massive game world more than five times the size of Haven City from the last game.

Although they are less prevalent than last time there are a dozen different vehicles to pilot and plenty of upgradeable weapons. Perhaps the most important new gameplay feature though is Jak's new light eco form, to balance out the dark eco powers from Jak II. In light eco form Jak grows a pair of angelic wings and gains the power to regain lost health and even freeze enemies in time (and yes, it does work a bit like bullet time).

For fans of the series, or those just looking for a fun, modern-thinking platformer, this series is definitely going out on a high. --David Jenkins

5.0 out of 5 stars JAK 3, 1 May 2006
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
UTTERLY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
I'm a big fan of the jak games and I was so excited when jak 3 came out.Although the missions are sometimes a little bit boring, the depth is incredible!!!!
the graphics are more or less perfect and the scripting is some of the best ever!!!!You still have dark Jak like from the last game and there are more dark powers as you progress through the game.
I have got to say truthfully, this is one of the best games I have ever played!!!!A MUST!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A platformer that works!!!, 17 Jul 2005
This game is simply one of the best games on the planet. My sister owns the first two and I didnt like the first, but loved the second. This finally completes the series with an awesome finisher.

The whole game is packed full of features. You can do missions, or spend hours driving round the wasteland detroying raiders with vehicles you can unlock. This game has massive potential.

The unlockable features allow use of cheat-esque abilities, but are completely fair and designed into the game from the start, erasing any chance for glitches.

The new price makes this well worth a buy to fans of any sort of games!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ...shocking...., 26 Feb 2006
By Lydia (Liverpool) - See all my reviews
The only word to describe this game is 'shocking', I mean that in a good way ;-)

I absoulutely LOVED Jak II and just HAD to get the sequel. The great thing about this game is it has pretty much all the features that the 2nd game did but better.
In other ways though, that is the bad thing about this game:

# The main new feature in this game is Jak's new form 'Light Jak'. I think this is a fab new addition but along with the new gun upgrades, etc, I just think there is too many things going on - like ND are trying abit too hard.

# Everyone agrees that Jak II was just a *touch* too hard (o.O) so, thankfully, Jak3 is alot easier. However, the game is too short. Whether this is because the levels are easier so you can complete them quicker or there is just simply less missions to do I think the game just needs to be longer.
Jak II took me about 2-3 months to complete, Jak3 only took about a month, if that.

Although Jak3 does have is bad points it still is a corker of a game. Daxter still has his hilarious comments (woo!) and the story is still amazing (the ending literally had me gob-smacked)

All in all, even though I think Jak II is slightly better, I would definately reccomend this game to anyone - but especially fans of the series.
