There are four options when tuning your selected radio station. With direct tuning, you input the desired frequency digits. Manual tuning allows you to change the frequency step by step. If you are unsure of what station you want, use the scan tuning option to have the radio stop at all hearable receptions. Finally, with preset tuning, you can recall a preset station with a single button press. You can store up to a hundred preset stations using Sony's My-memory tuning feature. To help you remember which station is which, this Sony radio allows you to label each station with up to six alphanumeric letters. There is also a ten-key direct access tuning function, letting you quickly access your top ten favorite stations.
If you plan on traveling with a radio, the ICF-SW7600GR is a good choice. Beyond the ability to tune into various radio bands, the ICF-SW7600GR also features a world clock feature. Simply select a city name and the radio will display that city's current time. With the dual clock function, it is easy to keep track of two time zones. The radio also has a useful turn-on and sleep timer. Choose two individual times and frequencies and the radio will turn on and tune to the selected station automatically. If you plan on listening to the radio as you fall asleep, use the sleep timer and the radio will turn off after approximately sixty minutes.
There are two options to power the radio. Either four AA batteries or purchase an optional AC adaptor.

Exceptionally Good for the Price,

I have this radio for 4 years now, and I must admit this is one of the best purchases I made on Amazon. Reception quality is very good on SW and FM, and presets are just so convenient. Perfect for those learning languages, listening to the news from their home country, travelling to remote spots where FM or digital does not reach (but serves as great FM radio as well). Price is very reasonable, for it's technical parameters this is great value for money. Aerial could be a bit sturdier - well nothing is perfect.

Superior performance and a great price.,

Pro: Synchronous detection circuit helps a lot with fading signals. Superior battery life. Radio appears solid and well made. The antenna can be pulled away from the case so it extends at a proper vertical angle, not at an awkward angle like the Eton E5 and other cheaper radios.Con: Whip antenna connection to case is slightly flimsy. 4 AA cells needed; a bit inconvenient for portable use. The radio weighs approx. 600 grams, and the dimensions are slightly large for a compact receiver. The ICF-SW7600GR does NOT come with a power adapter. Overall, I love this radio, and highly recommend it. Sony has discontinued the ICF-SW100E, so grab a '7600GR before it's discontinued!

I was hoping to replace my damaged ICF-SW100E, but, finding that Sony had discontinued that model, I purchased the 7600GR.It is a larger, heavier, set, but I have to say that I'm very satisfied in almost all respects...better reception, clearer sound from the larger speaker, and an FM stereo line output good enough to record classical music progs to replay on my hi-fi (and I'm very particular!). The four batteries seem to have a long life (better than the two in the SW100, as you would expect), but I purchased the mains adaptor as well; this is also a solid well-made item. I'd give 5 stars if the aerial mount was less flimsy...I'd hope that it's stronger than it seems, since, despite being a careful guy, I have a habit of breaking aerials! Sony, please note!
