Well done Sony. This what I like to see. A good, solid product which does exactly what it should with no unnecessary bells or whistles and at an affordable price.

Reception is good. Tuning stability is good. Volume is good.

What more can I say? I leave it tuned to Radio 4 when I'm in my workshop and I know it'll most likely still be working 20 years from now. I have a Sony Alarm Clock Radio dating from 1977 that's still going strong!

Gets the job done 13 Feb 2008
It is well built, the controls (tune and volume) are solid and smooth, sound quality (I mostly listen to radio 3) is perfectly adequate, and it seems to last forever on a set of 4 AA batteries. I'm very happy with my purchase.

A nice little radio 5 April 2009
The four star rating may be a little mean because there is only one fault I can find and it applies to just about every other radio on the market. It is that the socket for the mains lead is set in the back so that you can't stand this portable radio neatly against the back wall of the bench or worktop when using the lead. Placing the socket in the end would be far more sensible (and I do hope someone from Sony reads this).

But having got that little moan out of the way, this is an excellent radio - very simple, good reception and economical on batteries. Sometimes you don't want a tape deck and CD player or the bulk they take up, especially if you want a radio in a workshop where dust is always a problem. I just drop a cloth over it to keep the dust out.

This is the second one I've bought of this model and the first one is still going strong after a couple of years. I can thoroughly recommend it.
