As a uni student I needed a voice recorder that could record decently during my lectures. Having read thousands of reviews on here i came across both the ICD-MS 515 and this one (ICD-MS525) reading the reviews for the 515 it sounded like the perfect tool for me, but at £200 ish i was a bit put off.
Then i saw this, which i took for the next model up, but with no reviews or information on it i had a bit of a problem deciding.
Finally i decided to take a chance, and was VERY PLEASED with my decision. I'm now certain this is the next model up, or at least a counter part model. I can't say if this works better or worse than the MS515. But it has recorded all my lectures superbly with a little expected background noise.
At £50 pounds cheaper than the 515 and with a 32 MB memory stick this is a great buy. The package includes voice editing software which i haven't had the chance to use yet. The memory stick included is a bit small but with LP mode it can hold a fair bit of time.
Summary:

> Amazing recording quality, with high and low level sensitivity. (Perfect for lectures/ meetings)

The sound quality of this unit is excellent and the memory sticks finally let you capture very long lectures. However, the playback button is combined with the message forward and backward in a "rocker arm" button where you have to push straight down to "just play". The sensitivity range is so small, I usually move forward or backwards in my message numbers rather than just playing the current message... very frustrating.
You should try this operation in the store before purchasing.
