Your Music Collection's Never Sounded this Good

Our engineers teamed up with acclaimed music duo Hurts to develop in-ear headphones that can keep pace with music -- meeting the need for both deep bass response and precision sound quality. The XBA-H3 in-ear headphones have a HD hybrid 3-way driver unit, combining a 16mm dynamic driver unit and two Balanced Armature drivers. And the result? Euphoric high notes, punchy mids and powerful bass lines -- the hybrid 3-way driver system lets you hear it all. You'll notice subtle details in your music that you haven't heard before. And with unmatched clarity you're guaranteed to hear depths to even your most played tracks, allowing you to fall in love with them all over again.

Hear the Detail in Every Track

The XBA-H3 in-ear headphones -- designed in collaboration with acclaimed music duo, Hurts -- utilise a hybrid driver system to deliver flawless sound reproduction across the full 3Hz to 40kHz frequency range. The Balanced Armature (BA) driver unit inside each earbud hosts a lightweight, ultra-responsive diaphragm that's been specially designed to enhance the reproduction of upper and mid-range tones. These BA drivers combine with a dedicated 16mm dynamic driver unit and HD super tweeter to deliver beautifully detailed sound quality across all frequencies. From rich, deep bass lines through to delicate, high-end vocals -- you'll hear every note of every song.

Do not Disturb

Pop in a pair of XBA-H3 headphones and get ready for a listening experience like no other: one that's free from the distractions and interference of the outside world. The snug in-ear fit and closed-back headphone design work together to minimise sound spillage, keeping more of your music in your ears. And with less background noise to disturb you, you're free to listen to your favourite tracks in crisp, crystalline detail without having to pump up the volume.

Hanging Tough

Working. Commuting. Exercising. You need headphones that can keep up with the pace of your day-to-day life. The ear hangers have been crafted in shape-memory resin and coated in soft silicone for a relaxed, stable, customisable fit with no pressure points -- making them the ideal companion for those who live their life on the go.

Drop Beats, Not Calls

Why should you have to choose between listening to music or making calls on your smartphone? The XBA-H3 has a detachable inline remote and microphone, so you can switch seamlessly between the 2. Whether you're pumping up the volume on your favourite song or calling your friend to tell them about it, you'll be able to do so without having to unplug your headphones.

Heavyweight Bass Response

They may be small, but when it comes to bass response these headphones really pack a punch. The expanded frequency range -- 3Hz at the low-end -- allows the headphones to pick up on those sub-bass notes that other earbuds miss, while the closed-back, close-fitting design maximises the bass signatures in your music. Coupled with a hybrid driver and Beat Response Control systems, you'll hear tight, rhythmic handling of even the toughest bass lines.

I've been waiting with this review after they had the chance to burn-in at least a little. (Yes trust me burn-in isn't a myth)

The sound out of the box is somewhat harsh, bass is muddy and undefined, mids are OK and highs are very (I might say extremely) detailed. I have never heard so much detail from any other headphones.

Wind noise and general noise cancelling is significantly better than my EX1000 but they don't cancel the sound completely which is OK with me.

They're made from plastic but they feel sturdy and very well build. They may seem big but they fit very well and after a while you'll forget about them. The cable is flat shaped and doesn't tangle so easily. Microphonic effect is very low and it's even better than EX1000 cable.

I'm using it exclusively with my F806 (will buy 886 later for the HI-RES Audio) Walkman (without any external amplifier) and E series VAIO laptop. I don't listen music on my smart phone and I don't own any Apple devices.

After 3 weeks of listening I can honestly say these are amazing IEMs. The sound is very well balanced bass lost its muddiness and it's well defined and punchy, highs are even more detailed while remaining smooth and clean. Soundstage is very wide and flat (No v-shape) with a great instruments separation. You feel like the sound is coming from about 10 centimetres in front of your forehead.
Also don't forget finding the best rubber tip to fit in your ears is crucial for the perfect sound and noise isolation.

The only downside is that they need quality recordings (MP3 320, iTunes AAC 256, FLAC, ALAC or the new SONY HI-RES Audio) otherwise don't bother with these earphones. They will sound OK sure but you will not get the full potential out of them.

I know reviewing sound quality is very subjective, but when I first listened to these my initial thoughts were, Wow! Amazing sound for IEM's. My source is my NW-ZX1 walkman, so a decent source. About 6 months ago I was looking for some decent IEMs for work and travel as I already had some over head phones, MDR-1R's. I tried the XBA-H1's and was extremely disappointed. They were far too bass heavy and there were little or no mids or treble! they sounded muffled and dull even with about 50 hours burn in, so I returned them. later I was looking at possibly the Shure SE215's or maybe SE425's, but in the end I took a punt on the H3's as saw then on a special for a very good price and I'm very glad I did. These IEMs' sounds fantastic, the bass isn't as thuddy or over emphasised as the H1's but is still defined and reasonably controlled. The bass really extends below to a level beyond my expectations. But most importantly for me was that there is a crisp high end giving a clear presentation with a wide sound-stage. The highs were a little harsh to begin with, but after burn in settled down. I'd say they almost sound better than the MDR-1R's! The ergonomics of the H3's are little cumbersome, but I can live with that for the sound quality and are unexpectedly very comfortable. These are definitely worth a purchase if you love music!

Although bulky, thanks to the whopping driver, the sound *and* bass are excellent. Nice clarity and appear to handle most thing from Berlioz to Kasabian and everything in between.

I actually slightly prefer them to my Grado GR10s (personal preference i know) but i happily use this headphones a lot.

I have a slightly obsessive amount of IEMs and I would put them nearly on par with my Sennheiser IE800s, high praise indeed I suppose.

After owning quite a few pairs of IEM's ranging from the good (shure se215) bad (audiofly af78) these are without fail the best most natural sounding i've tried. The bass is fantastic for something this size with very clear treble and a wide sound stage. Spend some time with the numerous eartips to get the right fit (i used the hybrid foam tips) and a decent source, Spotify premium set on extreme and your rewarded with immersive sound and old tracks take on a new lease of life.
The build quailty of these is fantastic, made of a metallic high grade plastic? and as stated above it comes supplied with a lot of different sized tips and a replacement/spare cable with mic for making handfree phone calls, and a very nice zip up case.
I've had these for about three weeks now and use them every day and the sound has definitely improved getting a much warmer sound.
I know these are expensive but with the build quailty and the ability to replace the cables i'm sure these will last a long time, i usually go through a pair of cheapish headphones (sennheiser cx300) every 6 to 8 months, so these will be saved for listening to music in doors through my Fiio e17 DAC..

I was initially reluctant to spend £200 on some in-ear headphones as surely they couldn't match over or on-ear types; could they?

I would just like to say that these are by far the best headphones I have ever had the opportunity to use/try/buy.
I have had a wide variety of headphones over the years (too many to name, but include Sennheiser HD 595, Momentum's and others Sennheisers, Grado's, Beyer's, Beats (the worst), Other Sony, Philips, Denon, Apple, Bose (all of them) and many many more, however, the first time I put these on and listen to some music, I was completely blown away.
It's difficult to describe the sensation, but I will try; the sound was Crisp, Crystal Clear, Perfect Non-distorted Bass at all volumes and bass heavy tracks, excellent Sound Stage as though you are in a small studio (depending on track), perfect separation of musical instruments. I can honestly say that I have never heard individual musical instruments on some tracks that I have with these headphones, perfect Treble; Just Perfect.

The quality of the materials is excellent although some form of metallic casing would have added to the premium feel of the headphones, but the plastic(type) material does not feel cheap. The flat type cables are awesome and the tendency to get tied up is vastly reduced compared to other headphones I have used.
The ability to remove cables from the actual ear pieces deserves merit and is an excellent feature added (as it would allow damaged cables to be removed) or stop cables from accidentally being damaged. I can't overstated how important this feature is for me as nearly every in-ear headphones I have owned has stop working due to cables being damaged.
