Shoot at an amazing 50 frames per second

iAUTO mode takes the effort out of making your movies look great – whatever the conditions. It automatically adjusts the best settings to suit your shooting situation and uses Sony-exclusive technologies to optimise your shots. Optical SteadyShot Active Mode reduces the effects of camera shake for clearer, more stable handheld images, even while walking. So regardless of where and what you’re shooting, you’ll always get the best results.

Low light? No problem

Many camcorders struggle in low light, producing grainy, fuzzy images. The super sensitive Exmor R™ CMOS Sensor reduces image noise for clearer images. In conjunction with the powerful BIONZ processor you’ll get great results in dim interiors or at dusk.

Smiles all round

You can take detailed 7.1 megapixel 2D still shots any time you choose – even if you’re filming in 3D. Smile Shutter™ allows you to automatically take photos whenever your subject smiles without interrupting video recording.

SONY HD TD10 E

I really like this camcorder. Some may feel that it is a bit of a brick as it rather resembles one and weighs the best part of a kilo. Personally I don't like light cameras anyway as I feel the need for some inertia to make composition easier and combat camera shake. On that subject, the built-in anti-shake system is really impressive,- even when compared with certain prosumer models costing far more.

The balance is just right: I was able to make really effective use of a cheap steadycam-type device which had refused to cooperate with other cameras.

It has a huge amount of internal storage, far more than most events will need, plus SD expansion. Extra batteries do not cost too much.

Picture quality in both 2D and 3D is very good,- the former being comparable to my Panasonic HD SD100 which it replaced.

The viewfinder is excellent, detailed and with convincing autostereoscopic 3D. The only major down side is the lack of a eyepiece: I appreciate that you can't view 3D with one eye but you can see nothing at all in bright sunlight. I am considering making a shade of some kind to deal with this issue.

You have to use menus for many of this camera's features, of course: you would not expect dedicated rings and external controls at this price point. The wheel on the front, however, allows adjustment of convergence but also, importantly, of manual focus and iris.

This camera will not appeal to every user: some will find it's weight unpleasant and cost prohibitive. For me, this is a great camera, with good build quality: it feels well-balanced and reliable and offers good full HD 3D images, 5 channel sound and external microphone input. Given its features it is not overpriced, though it pays to shop around.

I bought this camcorder about 6 months ago and I really like it. The quality of the 3D image is excellent, on par with the quality of documentaries on I see on my 3D TV. The HD image is very crisp, with a lot of 3D depth. The camera has a manual control which allows you to control the level of 3D: you can adjust it to make things pop out of the screen (more fun, but more demanding on the eyes) or to put the 3D depth behind the screen. A frequent problem with 3D images is the production of crosstalk (image ghosting). With this camcorder, I get ghosting only on rare occasions. The 3D image is most of the time very clear, even in relatively dark conditions. The 3D movies can be viewed in 2D. I used this camera in recent holidays to film the outside and inside of castles, and the result was stunning. After that, I am no longer interested in filming in 2D... The quality of sound is also excelent.

A nice feature of this camcorder is the viewfinder which has an excellent autostereoscopic 3D. You can see immediately how good your 3d effects are. There is plenty of internal storage and you can record on SD cards. The interface is very well done, and this camcorder is fairly easy to use.

My only complains about this camcorder is its weight (about 1 kg) and the fact that it is very bulky. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend this camcorder for people who plan to use it essentially for 2D filming. For the same price, you can get much smaller, lighter 2D camcorders. In addition, the quality of the 2D picture with this camcorder is very good, but not as good as some high-end 2D camcorders. However, I would strongly recommend this camcorder to 3D enthusiasts. It is a fantastic piece of technology.

Had mine a week now and boy is it good. The 3D is excellent and contrary to other reviews, it is a doddle editing and burning to Bluray. Reading what the self appointed experts say, you would need to be Bill Gates in order to accomplish this task. In reality all you need is Pinnacle 16. This is aslo a superb product which treats 3D in the same way it does 2D. No great drama, it just gets on with the job. The camera is every bit as good as one would expect from Sony with nothing to report in a negative way.

When this technology was only scene in cinemas, it was a dream of mine to film my holidays in 3D. When this camera arrived the first looks was amasing, smaller than I imagined. a little heavier than a normal camcorder. But the results were out of this world. A bargin at the price, but the extra card, battery ( that was used quite a lot as the camera is heavy on power. Bumbs the price up quite a lot. Now awaiting our next holidaY.

This camera is pretty good, but it does have a problem. I bought one in February and recently had to send it back to Sony because the right eye output focus is different to the left eye - so if you actually shoot 3D - neither eye is in focus at the same time - if you use the camera in 2D it's OK because only the left eye is recorded - I bought my camera through Amazon Warehouse Deals - sent the camera to Sony for repair and was told it does not have a warranty with Sony at all, so I would have to pay for a repair. I contacted Amazon, who asked me to return the camera for a refund - I'm still waiting to what happens.... I've read several other users have the same issue, so just a heads up really... the camera itself is great to use - I will buy another if I ever get my money back!!
