*28Mbps recording mode is not supported as a AVCHD format.
This well-specified camcorder uses a high sensitivity Exmor R™ CMOS Sensor which helps capture detail-packed images even in low light. Also on board is a 29.8mm wide angle G lens with 30x optical zoom and 42x extended zoom to give you the freedom to catch impressive close-ups and far away shots without losing clarity.
You also won’t need to worry about hand shake while shooting as this camcorder includes Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode, the definitive solution for stable recordings even while walking or zooming in. Optical SteadyShot™ with Active Mode image stabilization lets you capture smooth handheld video from wide angle to full telephoto shooting – ideal when touring cities or capturing sports action.
Why waste time fiddling with settings? The CX130 takes the effort out of home movie making with iAuto. This intelligent scene recognition feature recognises your surroundings and automatically adjusts light and focus settings to give you the best possible results wherever and whenever you are. The unique iAUTO selects from 90 possible settings then uses clever Sony-exclusive technologies to optimise shots for faces, smiles, low-light levels, different scenes or anti-shake adjustment. Getting going is quick and easy with the CX130 - just flip open the screen, touch the start icon and shoot.
The CX130 sports an easy-to-navigate 3.0-inch (7.5cm) WIDE Clear Photo LCD Plus display so you can compose your scenes with ease and enjoy finely detailed playback. Being a touch screen, it’s a breeze to use. Access menus and settings with your fingertips and view footage with friends seconds after you’ve shot it.
No point keeping all those great memories in your camcorder. With its built-in USB arm and cable, CX130 connects in a moment to your PC for transferring video and stills. What’s more, the PMB Portable software inside Handycam® launches automatically for quick and easy web uploading – ideal of you want to share movies via your favourite social networking site. The USB arm makes charging a doddle too.
Connect your camcorder directly to an HD Ready TV and view video in spectacular HD on the big screen. If your TV is a BRAVIA® with PhotoTV HD, even better - you'll be able to experience lifelike HD images, bursting with detail and colour.
Forget money, it’s people that make the world go round. That’s why Sony includes unique technologies to help you take precious shots of family and friends that will last a lifetime. Smile Shutter automatically takes pictures when people smile while Face Detection adjusts camera settings so that natural skin tones are preserved and up to eight faces stay in focus.
Supplied in the box is Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software. Just install it on your PC and you'll have no trouble organising your videos and photos. PMB makes a perfect archive for your home movies - arrange them by date or person and search quickly with a few clicks of the mouse. If you want to share them with friends and family, burn them to disc or upload to your favourite video sharing site in seconds.

Bottom line, this is a really good camcorder for the price. It is compact, lightweight and very easy to hold and use. The screen is clear and large although the touch controls can be a little fiddly but it just takes a bit of getting use to. The video and sound quality is superb but I haven't tried it in low light yet and I can record around 80mins of video on my 8GB SDHC memory card at the second to highest setting so I would really recommend a 16GB one as a minimum. I am currently using a Sandisk Ultra 2 (15ms Class 4) SDHC memory card and this seems to be fast enough. The only small negative, which seems to affect all camcorders, is the battery life. Don't get me wrong it's not bad I can probably get 120mins out of it and that's while playing back some of the recorded footage as I go along but it would have been nice to see Sony include the NP-FV70 and charge an extra £20 as this doubles the battery life. The only other possible negative is that the files are recorded in AVCHD format (have a .MTS extension) which not all operating systems and software recognise. For example Windows 7 can open and play the files but my Netgear Stora NAS box doesn't recognise the format. However, there are many MTS Converters available (just do a search on the internet) for £15- £20 that can convert the files to a more common format. Overall though, an excellent piece of kit which I would definitely recommend!

A good video camera for the money!,

It arrived on time, or well enough to be able to take it with us on vacation. The quality of the image is astonishing, excellent zoom (it's my first video camera that gives me a magnification of an object larger than what I can see with my naked eye; my previous videocamera was a sony minidv with 10x optical zoom). The menus are easy enough to browse so I didn't need the manual, and barely browsed through the presentation booklet. One thing to mention is the weight: very light (compared to what I'm used to). On the down side.... there is nothing!... well if I realy want to be picky, I would say that if I try to play it on my computer in the finest resolution 1080/50p, the video stream is so large that it looses syncronisation with the sound. In other words I need a video card with HDMI port and a similar screen, the DVI connection doesn't seem to provide enough band width.

A very nice little camcorder with 'View Highlights' a good first step. However outside on a bright day it is very difficult to see the screen and there is no view finder! This applies to most new camcorders. I also find it odd that Sony Vegas Movie Studio recomend you use a 24P frame setting but this camcorder only gives settings of 50i or 50P. Picture quality straight from the camera on an HD Tele is very good. The Browser software that comes with the camera is also very good.
