When fitted it rather takes the "handy" out of handycam as the combination cannot be squireled away in a coat pocket as can the camera on its own. And the camera becomes a lot more conspicuous. That said, it does turn the handycam into a true point and shoot device. Three thumb switches across the top are for record, zoom and photo. Once the umbilical cord is plugged in they all worked well altho I would prefer the record and photo buttons to be transposed. The mini tripod function woks fine as does the tilt control. A bit pricey even at £75. And you may need to buy a bigger carrying case. But overall I am pleased with it as it makes using the camera a lot easier - for me.
