A very nice phone, seen as what it's made for!, 9 Sep 2003
I have now owned this phone for a couple of months and am very pleased with its performances. One of the main reasons for me buying it was the impressive stand-by time. I have measured the actual time several times and it has always reached 300 hours +, a very impressive figure! The features of the phone might be a bit few but the voice-memo, almanac and the GPS fast connection features are all really great and useful. Although Sony Ericsson got a colour display it doesn't have the best resolution even though it's all right for most user. You can add pictures popping up when your mom, dad or wife call that is rather nice too (and a own melody for each person), but once again, the resolution not the best out there and especially photos tend to be a bit too grainy. Clearly this is not a phone for younger people searching for all the latest games (which is a very poor feature on this phone), cameras or whatever. It's just a well-crafted, well-performing phone to use a very long time ahead chosen for the need of consistency rather than a need for all the latest stuff. The Blue tooth technique is nice, but yet to unknown and lacking of compability to be really useful. A writer complained about the handling of it as bad. In my mind it's extremely easy to get a long with, with an intuitive and logical map structure. Even though looks aren't everything, you'll probably wont find a more well-crafted and stylish phone from this joint Swedish-Japanese company out there! To end this review; one should always ask oneself whether you would like to have a Phone (with some practical and useful basic features) or a multimedia counterpart with myriads of buttons, games, sounds and lights. If you prefer the former buy this solid quality phone from Sony Ericsson, otherwise choose another phone! I give the phone it self 5 out of 5 and the amount of overall and "cool" features 3 out of 5 stars.
