I love my phone!,
By Visser (Scotland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sony Ericsson Satio Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black (Electronics)
I read some horror stories about this phone and was a bit wary of buying it, but I desperately needed a new phone as I sometimes have difficulties with keypads going stiff. I also have a hatred of most other phone manufacturers and Sony Ericsson are the only people who have made phones that have lasted for me.
The first thing I must say is - most of the horror stories are about when the phone first came out, and as with all new electronic devices, they are always nearly useless and bug ridden new. This is why you must wait! Touchscreen Many people complain about the responsiveness and difficulty, I had no such issues. I took a while to get used to it but after one week me and the phone were in sync. Do not forget to set up the touchscreen for YOU, so that it is responsive to how you touch it! This is VERY important, prior to this I hated it. Headphone Jack No the phone does not come with a headphone jack. However, it does come with a handsfree set that plugs into the phone. You can undo the handsfree from it's cable, there is a headphone jack on this. (Sounds weird to explain but you'd understand if you saw it). PROBLEM SOLVED Shell/Scratching The phone is easily scratched but I find that most newer phones are this way, Sony Ericsson ones in particular. Buy a case and screen cover and save your phone, then when you want rid of it you can sell it for more. Battery Life Turn down screen brightness and lower vibration settings etc. Make sure to close your apps. If you do this, the battery can last over a day (with about a 6 hour break on complete standby at night). I found this pretty impressive for a touch screen phone as they usually die fast. My typical days also involve up to 2 hour long phone calls and periods connected to the net, music playing and plenty of texting. If it can survive all this and live more than a day then I'd be pretty impressed! If you need this phone for a more working angle however, don't get this phone, it is definitely a 'personal' phone. Difficult to Use Many people complained about it being difficult to use this phone and it is lacking in some features. I have had no issues with this. It is easy to add contacts and easy to figure out how to do 97% of the things this phone does. After a week I think I learnt nearly all the phones secrets. If you do have problems in doing something, Google your issue and you will find the solution! Features I most like about the phone are: Using the menu button during tasks to either see what apps are running or open the main menu Using the send/make a call button to send a text quicker and bypass steps The ability to have the standby screen set up in different ways Overall, I love this phone and it is a fantastic upgrade to my Sony Ericsson C902 (which I bought second hand and sadly didn't live very long). I can however see how people have issues with this phone and all I can say is, spend some time getting to know your phone and mess about with all the menus to configure the phone the way YOU want it. Do configure the settings yourself so that it is able to perform at optimum performance. My other piece of advice would be to update the phone when you get it, it's very fast and well worth it.

The New Satio, beuaty or beast?,
By
This review is from: Sony Ericsson Satio Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black (Electronics)
I got my new Satio 6 weeks ago, and I have both enjoyed and hated it. It took me a good 2 weeks to get used to its idiosyncrasies. But now, it is like a third hand and couldn't go without. Great camera, good music player, very good video download, and very fast internet and browsing (wifi or wap). What it needs, is a very good small manual to start people up, more than is presently offered, and a lot more free aps.

I totally refuse to listen to anything bad about this phone. I feel after phones like the iPhone, other touch screen phones become obsolete due to peoples obsessions with them. If anything, I prefer this to phones like that. Someone wrote about contacts earlier as well. You can add favorites to the home tabs, and everything is easy to access and you can customise pretty much everything on the phone. Someone else mentioned not being able to change the touch screens sensitivity.. it doesn't need to be changed, it's only resistive.
I've always been a Sony Ericsson user, and I think this a great outcome from them. This is a great phone. I got mine after recommendation, and i'm really pleased with it. Regardless to bad reviews i've seen, i've never had any problems with this phone. As for the camera.. wow. I've been using the 9MP function because it's a slightly wider angle, but this is more than enough. The video quality is also great, and the AV cable is really useful for watching stuff on the tv. A lot of people have spoke about the touch screen being resistive and not as easy to use, but I have to say I don't really agree. I think the touch screen on this phone easily is at the same level of operation as the HTC phones, and they have Capacitive screens. Overall a great phone, definitely worth the money for what you get!
